I had telephoned in advance, many weeks prior to London Marathon, to check that an early breakfast and a taxi could be booked. I was assured they could, and that the hotel would help by booking a "taxi-share" between guests. The Receptionist on duty at approx 5pm had no idea of these requests but scribbled down a Room Service Continental bf for 2, for 6.30am, and she would book a taxi for 7.30 but couldn't give a car-share option. At 6.40am when I should've been enjoying a restful breakfast before a gruelling event, I was having to chase up the missing breakfasts. The morning Receptionust knew nothing of any breakfasts being requested, nor a taxi. Neither had been ordered. At 7am one breakfast arrived and although we explained it should have been two, we said not to bother as we didn't have time. 10 minutes later, another breakfast turned up. What was a nice relaxing break turned into a rather stressful morning and based on that I wouldn't be confident in recommending this hotel.
Restaurant food and staff were wonderful, and hotel surroundings were beautiful. Room was lovely although hair in bath, otherwise clean and comfortable. Fruit basket and water was much appreciated.
