The Rugby League Museum I've stayed in hotel rooms in many places around the world, the George Hotel is the worst I have ever stayed in. Huddesrfield is my home town and I was very excited about staying at the hotel with my partner. My excitement turned to shame, I was so embarrassed by the state of the George Hotel, it is truly awful, in every aspect.

Lovely old building with lots of history. Very nice rooms. Enjoyed the stay The only thing that we didn't like was the noise the radiator made when we arrived. However this did not continue throughout the night so no great issue

The bed was comfertable and clean the bathroom was ok. breakfast service good and food. The hotel is looking tired needs updating damp in some places. Need to redecorating and a new sole without losing its grandure. Has there is a lot of hotels around ,I would hate to see the Hotel go.

Helpful reception. Prompt, courteous, good on local curry houses. Faultless bathroom/shower/lavatory - all easy to use. Bed firm and comfortable. Excellent lighting. Interesting and free rugby league exhibition. Saturday night was noisy due to a teenagers' party two floors below my room and into the street outside. Also the television set in my room (No 209) was good on vision but much distorted sound.

Comfortable and friendly We were turfed out of the bar at 11 and asked to sit in the lounge which is really like sitting in reception. There really was no need for this.

Excellent value for money, good location, nice food, generally pleasant, polite & efficient staff, reasonable facilities with quality period decorations and furnishings. Look forward to staying there again next trip. Nothing to dislike but you shouldn't lose sight it is a 150 year old plus building with all the character, charm & quirks that go with a building of that age.

Car parking arrangements were convenient for a start and receptionist checked us in swiftly. Room was clean and comfortable. Location in the middle of town was exactly what we were looking for. Waitress at breakfast was chatty, polite and helpful albeit the breakfast is just above average. Only downside was there were no staff to be seen to check us out. After going in search and finding them all having a meeting in the bar just dropped my key in the slot so no problem really.

Proximity to station. No nonsense approach booking in and out. Comfortable room. Good bath and shower facilities. Quiet. Friendly staff in restaurant. I didn't encounter anything of concern. I will be staying at the Brook George again.

We stay here all the time. There aren't that many hotels in Huddersfield, and as we come by train, the George is perfect. The staff are friendly, we always seem to get a good room, often upgraded if there is a better room available, it's very convenient for us to travel throughout Yorkshire and Lancashire, and we just love staying there. It's not particularly smart, but it's a great place to stay, with good views of the fantastic station and St George's square. We are going to keep going back.

Staff disorganised. Room extremely dated. Shower head broken. Bathroom freezing. Heated towel rail not connected. Radiator in room not working. Room had small plug in electric heater instead. Insufficient when -6 degrees outside. On checking out of hotel went to get the lift to go downstairs someone had pooed in the doorway of the lift. Absolutely disgusting. Had to take the stairs instead. Cleaner was there about to clean it up. Once downstairs at front desk another guest was complaining about the state of the downstairs toilet in the lobby. Apparently there was poo all over the floor & walls in there. The girl on the front desk just rolled her eyes & said she would ask someone to 'sort it out when they get a spare minute'. Not good enough. Should have been priority. Absolutely revolting. Avoid

Convenience for my purposes. Food was quite good and moderately priced. Large room but no bath. Bathroom had miserable lighting. Had to get out of bed to operate 'bedside' light. Lift not working. I am 80 and had a heavy case. 2Nd floor bedroom so lots of stairs. No offer of help.

My father used to work in this hotel in the 1920's as a Porter so it was a treat for me to spend a week in this old but splendid building. Perfectly located in the town square next to the Railway Station and minutes from the centre of town. Old but splendid is the way that I would describe the George Hotel and if some enterprising soul or group would spend a few hundred thousand pounds to restore and upgrade the place to its old glory, it would become the Number one hotel in Huddersfield.
