The staff were really pleasant and welcoming. The hotel is quaint with nice original features.
Good food, clean accommodation Nice and warm Friendly staff
The staff offered to cook a bar snack for us even though they weren't technically serving at that time.
We enjoyed all of our stay
The hotel was lovely and we really enjoyed our weekend. Great location. In the main the food was good bu......t
The meat was tasteless on the meals we had on the Friday night. Everything else was lovely and well presented. I would rather pay a little bit more for better quality meat. I had duck and my partner the steal medallions, both had no flavour. It put us off eating at the restaurant on the Saturday night - we ate out but would rather have eaten at the hotel
Lovely and cosy bedroom. All I needed after a busy day at my conference. Excellent breakfast. Staff who were concerned about my welfare.
A rather shabby reception and stairs.
Food served in bar was good and served by pleasant staff.
Bar area unwelcoming and in need of refurbishment. One of the beds lumpy and uncomfortable
The location is ideal, next to quaint canal.
room was tatty. shower was poor. bed uncomfortable.
comfortable bed and well designed room evening meal was excellent
breakfast--had to wait for the food trays to be replenished and the crockery to be removed from the dishwasher--hot bowls for cereal!
Bed extremely uncomfortable - worn mattress with lumpy springs. Food poor. Service in restaurant appalling as they were dealing with 2 weddings.
was very close to canal for long peaceful walks. staff very friendly and helpfull.but would check to see there were not soo many other events happening over our stay.
There were quite a few events happening over our stay so a quiet early night was not possible. there were quite a few electicity cuts durung our stay one was from nine at night and was still off in the morning so no hot water was available in the morning .but we were told this was due to no fault of there own but down to the elacticity board who had done some work previous to our stay and since then the electricity kept going off .
Staff very good and helpful. Breakfast was OK.
Decor a bit tired but overall reasonable value.
That the bar was open late for those of my group that wanted to continue drinking. The breakfast the next day was great
The extractor fan in the bathroom was on all night - didn't know how to turn it off
Staff was frienly and understanding, and location was peaceful.
Booked a family room but had no beds for the kids. Manager was helpful and provided us with an extra room.
Sound insulation between room 20 and adjoining rooms was non existent
Bedroom and facilities
Our room was very nice and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Public areas were 'tired' looking, carpets were worn and threadbare in places. Corridors used as storage areas for clean linen, spare chairs etc. Evening meal menu was limited and not very inspiring. The feeling was that the whole place was geared to weddings, everyone/thing else was felt to be of secondary importance.
Very tired furnishings.
The setting is very nice and peaceful. The hotel itself is also nice and quaint, especially the court yard which is very pretty. The walk along the canal adjacent to the hotel is lovely. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a nice old pub up the road.
You'd need a car if you want to go anywhere. Breakfast was a bit expensive.
Clean room good decorative order. Bed linen all clean and tidy.
Noisy fan in toilet. Wobbly toilet seat.
It was all okay
Didn't quite match up to the photos, was disappointed in the bedroom to be honest for £94, might be out of touch!
The premises, grounds and position of this hotel was lovely.
There was a member of staff on the bar in the evening, he was around 50 years old. A customer was quick to argue with him over the price of a drink and the staff member was very argumentative and rude towards the customer. It was cringe worthy for us who weren't part of the wedding reception and it was as though the staff member was goading the customer so that he could remove him from the premises. Another member of the wedding party managed to cool the situation down, but it was actually the staff member who was out of order. It was quite inappropriate, but what made it worse was the fact that there was a wake in the room next door.
Dinner had to wait over an hour when only 4 people in dinning room and cold chips when delivered. Cold breakfast on the first morning, ok after that.
Very nice hotel
Very friendly staff. We travelled with two dogs; we couldn't have breakfast in the restaurant but they came with an excellent solution; breakfast in the library. It was nice and cosy, we felt welcome.
No room to store all your toileteries in the bathroom. Not enough wardrobes, if you are for a long stay.
