the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was very good in the morning. Very central location my mum's room faced the High street, this was very very noisy due to the taxi rank being outside as well as the nightclub opposite. she got very little sleep even with ear plugs. the other rooms along the side of the hotel were much bettter and you should ask for these when you book. |

The room retained the traditional deco of an old English coach inn lack of a elevator may be a problem with travelers with large suitcases. The water pressure in the shower is also weak. |

Good location, short distance from North Station. Friendly staff. Shower in the room was good, no problems at all. Rooms are very dated, bathroom tired looking. Place should be refurbished and then it would be a really good hotel. Although the rooms are clean, they can give the impression of looking dirty because they are dated. |

The old rustic feel of the hotel made me feel at home, and the feel of the hotel just fitted into the oldest town in the UK. |

Charming period hotel, conveniently located. Very polite and obliging staff. The food was good but the cooked breakfast was a bit mean for the price. Cleanliness totally neglected. Positively dirty. The shower was dangerous Water temperature totally uncontrollable. Carpets were dirty in the bedroom. Brooks Hotel relying on period charm of hotel and ignoring normal standards of fimctionality of equipment, cleanliness and service.. |

Center of the city. Medieval character of the hotel preserved. Good selection of restaurants for dinner nearby. Breakfast buffet was good, included hot breakfast. Walking distance to local attractions. Beds very comfortable. Lighting could have been better. Many steps up to room but staff assisted us with luggage. |

It was cheap. Colechester is an odd place - but the Hotel is in the centre of it close to bars restaurants etc...Its an OLD hotel and looks it too. but for the price it was grand. Breakfast was lovely!! It was a wee bit dingy... but still a lot better than we expected!! |

It is a historical building in the heart of the shopping center. There was no mini fridge in the room. |

The hotel was in a very central location and easy to find. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and although in need of a little TLC the rooms were lovely. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends. Lots of stairs and doen't have its own carpark although NCP carpark not far away |

A nice middle range hotel in the centre of Colchester. The room was reasonably priced and sized. Car parking is awkward, and there is always the 14th Century squeeky floor boards!! |

Cleaning not done every day. I told the front desk that my remote is broken, they never replaced it. The room is very noisy from outside, the window is single pane and lets alot of noise and air thru. |
