I have never stayed any where as friendly as this hotel. The staff were all warm and caring. Food was good.
Attention to cleaning, cleaners don't clean behind the bathroom doors.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. Room was quiet.
Decor needs a bit of updating and there was no shower in our room - just a bath and hand shower which was disappointing.
staff was kind, helpful Room, breakfast and parking: OK
Location was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful . There was a relaxed atmosphere in the bar area where you could relax without being bothered but also felt you could approach staff if needed anything which was good
It could do with some of the rooms being updated / redecorated in the outside building they need smartening up
Creaky Floorboards- noisy bathroom when light one. Could have been more staff, although staff very helpful and polite.
Location brilliant. Gave a discount because for our complaints. Fantastic breakfast with a top waiter/night porter.Mattress was spotless.Advertising pictures make the place look good, pictures do lie
Hole in ceiling.central heating not working, given heaters. 15 cracked tiles and sink, mould too. Headboard stains. secondary glazing missing. Market starts at 5am, drunks 1am and 2am.Took three flushes for the loo and it was filthy.Condensation. Fan very noisey. No central light,3 lamps.Toilet bags had to go on floor, no table.Dog allowed in breakfast room.Potential with a small amount of money.Looks like these are old complaints, so why don't they do something; it could be fantastic
Nice friendly staff , however I had booked a double room which I did not require in the end but the staff could not change things so ended up paying for 2 breakfasts which I did not require . In my opinion they could have been more helpful as I have stayed there before
The cleaning is not of a very high standard in the bathrooms !!!!
Very nice staff, easy atmosphere and the dogs were well catered for too. Comfortable seats in bar and other areas, nicely furnished according to era of building.
In ground floor room and upstairs floors very creaky but only to be expected in building of this age, but no other disturbances :-)
The service. Breakfast.
Squeaky floors. Woken up by dustbin men at 6-ish. on Friday. An armchair in the room would have been nice.
Excellent location.Room and bathroom need updating Toilet very badly stained.
Breakfast almost inedible, not freshly cooked, very greasy.
Staff are very nice and helpfully. Rooms and very nice as well.
the accomadation was good and the staff where very helpful
there was nothing that me and my husband did not like
We have stayed here for the last 3 years and enjoyed the first 2 However this year was rather disappointing but we would come back.
My sister and I were given a room on the ground floor which was quite dark and had a double bed. We had asked for 2 singles which I was able to prove. The member of staff on duty said we would have to wait while she located the cleaners who would then separate the beds. She did not seem prepared to offer us another room and was rather off- hand. We had to wait over 1/2 hour. I would like to say that other staff we met in the hotel were helpful. The bathroom could have done with refurbishing. The toilet seat was broken. One of the lights in the room did not work. The worst aspect however was the noise from above. This disturbed our sleep on both nights. The floor creaked well after 12.00pm and as early as 5.00am.
The welcoming of staff at desk and later in the dining room. Our room was of good size and overlooked the area used for Saturday market. Size of bed could be improved; most couples prefer at least a queen size bed as standard accommodation.
Inadequate parking information and main entrance of hotel. We needed to drag luggage on narrow pavement (sidewalk) and through back walkway/narrow doors to front desk.
location although noisy due to being on market square which sets up early on Saturday and night club noise
We booked two rooms. In one room the bathroom was very poorly cleaned & lacked light bulbs. The bedroom was poorly lit due to a lack of natural light & had few lights. When the bathroom gained the correct amount of working bulbs it showed up the mould on the tiles and poor statof the cleaning & cracked sink. Our friends room had a TV which would not work and worst of all no running hot water, cold taps worked hot taps had no water coming out at all. When the Manager came to rectify the issue he tried to say it was due to old system & Hotel & too high use by others however this situation remained the same throughout the night & until check out the following morning. After a lot of calm firm negotiation in the morning half cost of one room was refunded.
Friendly and helpful staff, nice location.
Pigeons infront of window early morning. No curtains on one of the small windows so light shining through early morning. Dodgy lock on door to my room made it a pain to get in / out.
Staff were excellent and very helpful Food in the bar was very good
Breakfast was average quality with not a great deal of choice, tea and coffee was a messy affair. Lighting in rooms was poor, bath had a hand held shower which is not what you expect in a £160 a night room, also rooms on the small side for the price.
Good location and very friendly staff
Poor value for money, I paid £127 for the night for a room with insufficient lighting so very dark, no full length mirror, kettle that had to be put on the floor to reach a plug, no hairdryer and not even a box of tissues. These small but irritating deficiencies spoilt my stay.
The staff were very good.
The room we stayed in you could here people walking about above all night. also could hear people talking outside the room who were having a smoke and a drink.
The atmosphere and the people were all very friendly we had a lovely time .
The floors going to the bedrooms and inside the bedrooms were quite creaky,
Very helpful receptionist Good breakfast If it hadn't been raining, we would have enjoyed being outside in the courtyard All basic facilities good An old coaching inn of considerable charm Happy hour in the bar: an unexpected bonus
Bar dimly lit - pleasant to sit in, but hard to read a newspaper
Location in Oakham, had free parking, nice breakfast, friendly staff
Because the property is an old building, the floorboards creaked LOUDLY being an early riser I found I was creeping around trying not to disturb the guests below! Early risers ask for a ground floor room.
hotel felt very friendly the receptionist was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. Our room was a good size and the bed very comfortable .Breakfast, was a little disorganized, but the full English was very good.
unfortunately the noise from the upstairs room was quite bad, the floor creaked terribly every time some one walked across it,which they did constantly until around midnight.
