The Brookhouse Hotel LtdBrookside, Rolleston On Dove, DE13 9AA Burton upon Trent (Show map) Very good, Score from 22 reviews“Really friendly staff. Bed was amazing! Breakfasts were very good.On the Friday night it was one of their monthly Wine evenings and the people coming out all seemed to have had a good time and in the main seemed to be frequent bookers. We eat in the restuarant one evening.”

Set in a beautiful country garden, this distinctive hotel offers excellent food and good quality beds, and is convenient for East Midlands and Birmingham airports. North of Burton-On-Trent, just off highway A38/A50, the charming Brookhouse is set in a traditional English village with thatched cottages and a flowing brook. The restaurant has a reputation for good food, and reserving a table is essential, especially on weekends. Soft lights and candlelight reflect in the silver and crystal, and fresh flowers are everywhere. Freshness is the order of the day, and your food is cooked to order. The wine list offers imaginative, rare and unusual wines. Bedrooms are splendidly furnished, but don't hesitate to ask to see the other bedrooms; you will find a remarkable collection of comfortable, gorgeously decorated antique beds. Hotel Rooms: 19

Was given the hotel details as one of three in the surrounding area for a wedding that was being attended. The picture looked charming, reviews mixed but it suited our needs for the overnight stay required and the price reasonable. On arrival staff very friendly and helpful regarding organizing taxis to the wedding venue. We were given a four poster bed in a room with a front facing view which was pleasant. The soft furnishings were traditional and in keeping with the antique furniture. In the bathroom we had a corner jacquzzi bath as part of a simple white bathroom Suite. Breakfast in the morning was lovely and again service really good and friendly. In all the hotel very old fashioned in decor but can't fault the staff and food that we had. The room small and although a small wardrobe no room to put suitcases as quite afew bits of furniture in a small space. Lighting not very good, lamps but no main light so getting ready to go out abit difficult. Tea and coffee facilities presented poorly on a grubby tray with a rusty tin with afew teabags in. The carpet in the room and bathroom faded and worn and not clean in appearance which was a surprise considering the effort put into the curtains and bedding, it never seems hygienic to have carpet in a bathroom! Had to leave curtain in bathroom closed all the time as overlooked front of hotel and drive onto the main road.

Breakfasts were very good.On the Friday night it was one of their monthly Wine evenings and the people coming out all seemed to have had a good time and in the main seemed to be frequent bookers. We eat in the restuarant one evening. Food was excellent and it was a pleasure to see Silver Service being carried out. Overall, the hotel might be a bit quirky for some folks, but we really enjoyed it and would stop again. Carpets and paintwork a little tired and in need of a replacement/freshing up.

The Brookhouse is located in a quaint neighborhood and it was lovely to go on walks in the village. Charming atmosphere. Good breakfast and very nice service in the restaurant. Our dinner meals were good also. The carpet in our room was filthy. Not only had it not been vacuumed recently, it also hadn't been shampooed in a very long time. There were multiple stains. The bedding/fabric in the room has been there for a very long time and I don't think that it has ever been washed. At one time this was a lovely place but the owners have not kept it up very well. The owners were some of the main workers and seemed to be burned out. When I asked for the room to be vacuumed the owner had it taken care of, although the girl that was asked to do it was very frustrated that she had to clean. The girl came back to the owner and told him that he should come and look at the carpet, because it was so stained. The owner apologized and it was vacuumed.
