Near to the city centre, easy to find travelling by car. Whilst only a 2 star the hotel catered for all eventualities and could easily be higher rated. All the rooms were different and even the public areas had a somewhat quirky decor about them which was very pleasant. Breakfast service was efficient and the food was ordinary "cuisine" but unlimited supply of tea/coffee & toast.

We stayed at the brookside for 2 nights as short break and found it to be a wonderfui hotel, from the warm wellcome on arrival to the friendly staff through out our stay. We were in room six whitch is classed as a small double and found it to be very comfortable and more than adequate for a short stay and reasonable for the price. Breakfast was one of the best we have had and the eveing meals are reasonably priced and excellent we ate in on both nights. All in all a great hotel good location, with off road parking within walking distance to city centre.

Very convenient with friendly, helpful staff. Also the car park, although it was a bit tight. Meals were not that exciting, but perfectly adequate and very well cooked and presented . Waiting staff could not have been more attentive.

A really relaxing place to stay, the staff are so friendly nothing is to much trouble. Rooms really comfortable food excellent value. you can tell that this is a personal hotel not a commersial one. They had a cat and not being a cat lover that was the only thing I can think off to say as everything else was good.

We like the lounge area, all round the entrance, lots of cosy armchairs and very inviting. The bar is nicely placed, just before the dining room. The meals are good and reasonably priced. As for cleanliness, the place sparkles. The bedrooms have been tastefully done - all individual decor. The breakfasts are excellent. The gesture of a jug of orange juice per table is appreciated. The new menu, with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs , is jolly good.Lovely lean bacon too. A very well deserved 3 star upgrade ! Just a shame we only visit once a Year. The staff are suberb.

Close walking distance to city centre, reasonable price compared with others available, pleasant helpful reception on arrival, well appointed shower room, good prompt service for breakfast. No-one on the checkout desk on the Sunday morning - I had to leave promptly so left cash with a waiter.

The Brookside Hotel was a wise choice. It is a first class 3star hotel. We have payed a lot more for less.Beautyful four poster bedroom(making the wife feel really special)We had breakfast every day cooked to a resturant standard. The evening meal we did not have but residents that did raved about it.The hotel is half a mile from the city centre.A taxi fare to the centre is about £3.20.The city is a fantastic area one of the best we have seen even beating York.We do not go back on our city breaks but Chester and the Brookside hotel has changed or thinking.Thankyou all so much.David and Sarah-Jane Simmonds (Brighton East Sussex)

well appointed hotel that was close to the city centre but also in a quiet locality. The staff were friendly and helpful and the evening meal was excellent and good value for money.. Only one down side - the bedroom was too small for the 4 poster bed.
