Free parking. Location within walking distance of the city centre. Able to alter the heating
Shame it didn't have a lift for arrival and departure re taking of luggage up and down stairs
we had room service of wine brought to our room, the TV was fairly big and the room itself was huge for the price We didn't attend the bar because it's so close to the city centre with a 10 minute walk so we ventured out however, the one in the hotel looked lovely
Parking and free wifi
care needed in the shower as there was a risk of hypothermia to 3rd degree burns
Initial impressions were good, however this turned when I tried to get any hot water in Room 16 in the morning. I had to boil the kettle 4 times to have a shave, the problem compounded by the fact that the water drained through the ill fitting plug. The water did heat up just as I finished shaving. Next the shower...I gave up trying to have a shower after turning the heat dial to every notch. I didnt have time to complain as all of this took time and I need to get a quick breakfast and make a meeting appointment in tow. When checking out, I was asked the usual 'and how was you stay' to which i told this story only to be told that someone else had complained last week but when we checked everything was working okay...my reply was that if 2 people have complained about the water in room 16 in a week, then something must be wrong. The conversation became very defensive and sadly what started out as a pleasant stay became an unhappy one...My recommendation is to avoid room 16 if you want a shower in the morning.
Very warm reception from a nice family run hotel. Well run with a decent room and food.
An old building, so a little bit noisy.
Breakfasts and Dinners were excellent, matching all the staff that I met
The weather. (Not the staffs fault)
Very welcoming staff and although the room wasnt quite ready at check in time it was ready soon after. We had drinks in the house bar with friends in a convivial atmosphere. Room, beds, bathroom were fine. Breakfast was very good. Only a 10 minute walk to the Town walls with a map helpfully provided by the Hotel. We were allowed to leave our vehicle in the carpark for a couple of hours after checkout while we wandered back in to the town centre.
No hairdryer in room but there was one available in the hotel
The friendly atmosphere, spotless room and facilities.
bathroom was ok also breakfast
the cat should not be there on desk and was snappy
Great Location, Clean and tidy although a bit worn in places. Nice breakfast with friendly staff
Good location,10min walk to city centre. Free car parking and desk manager was very helpful with directions and making phone booking for us.
Room was quite small for price, and had trouble fitting in 2 suit cases. Breakfast was nice but had to wait a while. Free car parking, but was a squeeze even though we had small car.
The hotel was clean, had a homely feel and was just a 5 minute journey to the centre of Chester. The Receptionist was friendly and helpful on arrival. The rooms were smaller than expected, however were clean and warm.
The herb sausage on the breakfast was our only complaint!
Comfy room, warm, very clean.nice ensuite.nice little bar.staff very friendly and helpfull.good breakfast.not keen on the sausage though.great place to stay.
hotel was very handy for visiting Chester staff very helpfull
Nice rooms and very friendly staff
We didnt eat in the restaurant but found the bar snacks very expensive. .. £7 for a basic toasted sandwich!
Close to town. Friendly staff
Would have liked a hair dryer in the room
Easy walk from hotel to Chester Christmas market and cathedral. Good home cooked breakfast. Good helpful service.
Small double is too small. As room was so small very hot. Shower not very powerfull but we managed.
The location , the room the breakfast was great.
The staff were all very friendly. The food was excellent. The ambience was to our taste.
Out of city centre but only walk away therefor cheaper and quieter
1. With an additional Parking area there was always room to park. 2. With a bus stop virtually opposite the hotel, and buses every 15 mins. it was not necessary to use the car during our 2 night stay
Nice room with pleasant decoration. The staff were friendly too.
Heating didn't come on early enough. Food could have been better particularly dinner. Waited ages for breakfast to arrive (and order), nearly lost interest in it! Average when it did turn up.
Location Comfortable surroundings
One night the heating was off we were frozen all night however the following night it was warm. Be aware that they apply for 1 days stay in advance on the day of arrival which stays on your card for seven days. But charge you in full on check out.
The position and free car parking were a bonus. The friendliness of the staff made up for our initial disappointment of what we expected from pictures in the advertisement. Good breakfast, hot water and big flat screen TVs in bedrooms. Wi Fi good.
The hotel was very 'tired' and in need of refurbishment everywhere. Money had been spent on TVs in rooms but my priority would have been to decorate. Bar was disappointing, as was the restaurant (no atmosphere) so consequently we ate out both nights. Not something we had planned to do. The name of the hotel suggested it would have placed importance on it's restaurant but this wasn't the case.
room comfortable. staff very friendly. Food in restaurant very good.
car parking could be a problem. I know there was an overflow car park. but people need to learn to park their cars in one space and not take up 3 spaces. especially when the hotel is fully booked.
