With its distinctive Georgian frontage, Yeo Dale hotel is an elegant town house just a 3-minute walk from Barnstaple town center. The perfect base from which to explore the North Devon countryside.

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable rooms with lovely views. Delicious food cooked to order.Well-stocked rooms. Comfortable lounge and dining areas with real log fires.
Staying in such a creative environment was very stimulating. As a qualified artist and designer myself, it was a joy to be around so many thought-provoking pieces all around me. It was a shame that I didn't have time to taker the tour around the gardens in the following morning to take in all the eclectic installations; although they did provide me with a free ticket which was a nice touch. As was keeping the kitchens open for my late arrival!
I remember thinking that the service at breakfast could have been a bit more cheerful and welcoming.
As my friend very much likes art, I choose the hotel to surprise her. I hoped it would be "ok", but it was not. It was fantastic:)) Beautiful and very tastefull decorations of paintings, sculptures and furniture all over the place, and very proud and friendly owners of the hotel. The food was prepared with fresh ingredients and was exclusively tastefull. It's a long way from Denmark to Devon, but this hotel is a strong reason to make the journey to Devon once more!
Staff friendliness, décor, food, room size & abundance of room facilities.
No mobile phone signal (Virgin). though pay phone in reception. No phone in room to dial out. Small & pokey toilet and shower ensuite with the wash basin within the bedroom. The bedroom No.2 although large could have been better laid out regarding the ensuite shower/toilet.
Loved our evening meal. Restaurant staff attentive without being intrusive! Really comfortable bed
Breakfast could have been better - yogourt out in pot from LIDL (nothing wrong with LIDL or the yogourt) but just didn't feel right after the standard of dinner!
Bed reasonably comfortable. Friendly and willing staff. Rest of the hotel and grounds were great and the food was very good.
Detached bathroom, no telephone, no illumination of "wardrobe" so full length mirror was in dark, no mirror in bedroom area. Television controller faulty.
The hotel is positioned in the middle of a woody valley with a stream running through it. This is the wonderful setting for the sculptures which peak out amid the trees and ferns. Whilst a guest at the hotel you have free access to use the sculpture park.
Breakfast was good but as we find in so many hotels, when you get to the breakfast room there is the embarrassing moment when you don't know if you sit just anywhere or wait. We waited what felt like an age before finding a table ourselves. Food was good but we were not told about the help yourself cereals, pastries, etc which were on a table in the hallway! Jams were in open dishes with a fly crawling in the marmalade.
no issue about late arrival or early breakfast food lovely
Location, tranquillity, friendliness of staff, quality of food.
The food was beautifully served as good as any Tapas we have eaten. The Sculpture Park was spectacular especially as the sun went down...well worth a visit.
A shame that with health and safety overload the outdoor pool was no longer used. There was nothing that we didn't like!!
Warm friendly welcome Lovely hotel Artwork and sculpture's everywhere - each time you look round you see something new Breakfast good Beautiful location in wooded valley
Superb staff, lovely location, relaxing and restful, fantastic food, value for money, everything was a real treat.
Nice large room good bed
Rubbish breakfast not many staff about
Most of the amenities were excellent, clean rooms and very helpful staff.
I think that the menu could cater more for simple tastes.,like roasts and such like.
Big room, very tastefully furnished with lots of paintings everywhere. The sculpture park was an added bonus and helped pass a couple of hours walking around it, and there was also the studio with paintings and photography to look at. Lovely full English breakfast was also included in the deal. Price was very reasonable, particularly for the standard of the hotel.
Can't think of anything I didn't like about this hotel.
The unique decoration of the rooms, public areas and grounds -staff very kind and helpful and amazing food
Can't think of anything
A very comfortable hotel with outstanding staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they were smiling and helpful at all times.
The bathroom was a bit on the small side in particular the shower.
What a pleasure staying in this Hotel with a difference from the room being spacious although very tiny bathroom. The food and service was fabulous and the gardens were a treat with the art all through the bush walk.
Food, room and decor in hotel were excellent, combined with a simply magical garden make this an outstanding place to stay
Drive up to hotel is a bit strange and entrance hall to hotel is a bit tatty - but don't be put off by this trivia.
Relaxed and friendly atmosphere with staff who were happy to help.
Loved the tapas & wine, hotel and the gardens were just enchanting. I love my art and it's a great way to introduce my 4yr old wandering around the gardens.
Extremely helpful staff. Very good evening meal.
Everything about this hotel is quite unique. We were given the warmest welcome, arriving in the dark (after work), nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful hosts and staff. One key thing which I wasn't aware of at the time of booking.....hotel guests can have unlimited access to the beautiful sculpture gardens, even while the gardens are closed to the public. I had a quick look at the gardens before setting off, but I was on a business trip, and didn't think I'd have much time to see the gardens.....and anyway - surely in the middle of the Devon countryside, one wouldn't really expect more than a handful of sculptures around a lawn? I was amazed to find a beautiful garden in a hidden valley, filled with so many artistic pieces - well I was lost for words......it really was quite remarkable, and quite the most unusual and friendly place I'd ever visited. The food was wonderful.....the welcome was wonderful - all I can say is - you really must go and try it out for yourself. I remain amazed, and can't wait to work in this area again, so that I have an excuse to go back.......it's simply unique....do give it a try.
Lovely room/breakfast/staff and the gardens and wonderful
food at dinner was terrible
