Order your own breakfast and it is ready for you the next morning at a time you wish. Beautiful surroundings. Lovely host (Cate) who looks after you.
Literally couldn't fault anything - couldn't have felt more like a home from home for a 1 night stay
B&B in a lovely setting. Owner very attentive and did lots to help make it a special stay. Lounge area and open fire lovely. Breakfast superb
Broughton House is a gorgeous detached property, just outside of Cartmel. We had the Garden View room which was lovely, tastefully decorated, and with a modern en suite. There were homemade goodies for us on arrival (brownies and shortbread, as well as other surprises!) made by Cate, the proprietor, who is a lovely, friendly, and accommodating host. Breakfast was amazing, consisiting of a choice of cereals (some homemade), a Full English, or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. As well as toast with homemade jams. We would highly reccomend this property to couples looking for a peaceful break (or to discover The Lake District), and to families/friends who would like the experience of stopping in the cabin and yurt.
Cate was a fantastic host. The room, house and grounds were perfect. Overall a comfortable and enjoyable stay!
This is a high end b&b with impressive attention to detail & some fantastic touches e.g the brownies, home made biscuits & tea in front room on arrival. Rooms are of an excellent standard, owner is lovely & very welcoming making conversation without being intrusive & breakfast is to die for. Highly recommended.
Quite out of way from the Village & lanes are unlit late at night. If driving back make sure you take a torch & the postcode. Would benefit from a small outside light for those returning late
The friendliness of the host. The uniqueness of the room. The little extra touches. The comfort and size of the bed. The range and quality breakfast with home produce, so many jams and conserves! The perfect peace and quiet! The views in all directions.
Location, huge comfy bed, fabulous view, great breakfast, lovely hosts. Everything!
Nothing! Just having to leave
Staying with Cate at Broughton House was truly the highlight of our trip. She provides superb rooms, the most wonderful personable hospitality and plenty of perks! We arrived after a long drive. Cate showed us to our beautiful room which was had the most comfortable bedding, lovely decor and fabulous bath. There was also a small refrigerator in the room which we were not expecting. On the side table were a jar of out of this world brownies and another of outstanding cookies. There was a sheet with options for breakfast. Cate makes whatever you want whenever you want. Unheard of! So accommodating it was heavenly. There were also plenty of brochures of local things to do in the room, a cabinet with snacks and teas available 24/7. We stayed with Cate for 2 nights in mid August. The breakfasts were spectacular. One night we wanted to go out to dinner and not drive. Cate arranged for Trevor to help us out. We truly felt more like we were staying with a dear friend than a proprietor. I cannot recommend Broughton House enough. We intended this to be the only visit to Cartmel, but Cate may have wooed us to make a special trip someday to see her again. Thank you, Cate!
There was nothing about our stay that we disliked.
Lovely peaceful setting (sat-nav very useful to find it!). Cate made us feel at home and was very helpful. Cosy rooms, wonderful bed and pillows. Breakfast very tasty - accompanied by homemade jams and bread. Cate's attention to detail is very good - little touches such as face wipes and paracetomol in the bathroom, good quality toiletries. Will definately go back and recommend it to others.
Everything. Cate is the perfect hostess, and served us tea and delicious homemade shortbread and brownies on arrival. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and breakfast was whatever we wanted. Cate had also sent excellent directions in advance so we found the house easily on arrival - less so coming back in the dark after dinner! It was a wonderful place to break our journey on a long trip.
That we only had one night there, but I'm sure we will stay again in future.
Everything! Beautiful location, amazing hostess, brilliant breakfast, comfy bed and lovely room with cracking views.
Very comfortable room with many extra touches. An excellent breakfast with much home produced produce. Homemade chocolate brownies and biscuits on arrival. The landlady couldn't have been more helpful. Great fell walk from the house with views or Morecombe Bay.
First class accommodation, I look forward to staying again.
What a wonderful place! Thank you to cate for her fantastic hospitality. What a wonderful place-stunning, clean, comfortable and with everything you would need. Will definitely be returning and recommending to anyone. Hannah and Jonny
Very welcoming. Easy going but looked after very well. Room gorgeous and lovely treats.
Definately need a car for this location.
My husband and I were on our honeymoon, and I hadn't been back to England in 48 years. We planned everything before we left home, and we chose Broughton House based on the location and excellent reviews! It exceeded all our expectations! We loved everything about this quaint farm home. Even the chickens delighted us! Cate is wonderful! The room was gorgeous with a huge bed and immaculate. The bottle of wine was a lovely surprise as was the delicious bakes goodies in the room for us. The breakfast was scrumptious!! We loved the quaint village and the Priory which this little nook is famous! We had a lovely English tea at the Priory Hotel, and bought freshly made Lancashire Cheese. Broughton House is a delightful home where we would love to spend a longer period of time, which we hope to do in the future. A true treasure!! Kendall and Lynn Canada
There wasn't anything we didn't like!!
Absolutely fantastic, we were on our honeymoon and only stayed one night, but wish it was more. Cate was a great host, very interesting and helpful, and the house is amazing. Bonus points for delicious brownies and a huge breakfast. Loved it!
There wasn't really anything we didn't like, apart from the fact we couldn't stay longer!
We felt that Cate was very friendly and would do anything to make your stay even better. The breakfast was very good and nearly everything was freshly home made.
