Freddie and Fiona top the list as they make the place personable in addition to being a warm home. Great location, great value, filling and tasty breakfast, and a fast internet connection, what more can you ask for?
Not much other than Edinburgh weather once October comes around but that's also part of its "charm" :-)
This B&B is very well located being only 2 to 3 minutes' walk from the first restaurant with plenty more in the next 2 minutes. Very close to the Playhouse Theatre and cinema and within 6 or 7 minutes to Princes Street.
FROM THE MOMENT WE WALKED IN, WE WERE MADE TO FEEL WELCOME. GREAT BREAKFAS SELECTION. JUST A GREAT SMALL HOTEL
Great location for what we wanted
- Staff was excellent, we had to leave really early in the morning, the hostess prepared a special breakfast for us and even prepared us a few extra sandwiches to take away - location is excellent, tons of restaurants less than 5 minutes walk, a very lively area (but the guesthouse is on a quiet road so no noise at night) - very tidy and clean
- the room was a bit small
Very friendly and helpful, clean and convenient.
The room was on the top floor with headroom limited under the eaves
Broughton Hotel is located in a quiet street in walking distance to the City centre. I stayed there for 2 nights and really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the comfortable room. The excellent breakfast made me feel like "being at home". Will be my choice again during my next trip to Edinburgh.
small attic room
Quiet street near the tourist area. Private off street parking for guests at no charge.
VERY small shower stall and tiny shampoo/gel packets. Small room with no place to put suitcases. Breakfast was good, but a fruit salad or other fruit option would have been nice.
Comfy bed Breakfast Location Friendly staff
Breakfast was delicious.
Great hosts, food, room, parking, wifi, close easy walk to centre, wonderful place.
Tidy room, comfy bed, pleasant staff and a cracking breakfast to set you up for the day.....trying to book up for next september but looks fully booked :(
Fiona is a really nice person. Room very cleaned. Good breakfast.
Sometimes Wi-fi does not work very well.
Nice staff, good rooms, comfy beds, good breakfast, good location
good location handy for city caetre
We enjoyed the friendly welcome we received from Fiona and the staff. Breakfasts were very good, both choice and quality, and the beds were very comfortable. Overall it suited us well and was a great place to stay.
There wasn't anything which we disliked.
Bathroom - strange smell from the water.
The staff was very helpful and the room was very comfortable and clean. the breakfast they served was very good and they gave you a choice as to what you wanted for breakfast.
Owners absolutely exceptional. Very friendly.
Room very small. Room overpriced at nearly £150 a night. Basic to adequate. Rocco Forte in Edinburgh offer a room for £300 a night, making this hotel half the price of Rocco Forte...Placing yourself in this market is quite silly. But, if people are prepared to pay the price, as I was, who is the idiot?
The location was a quick walk into town or up to the tramlines. There was car parking, which can be a challenge so close to the city centre. The room was very comfortable we all slept well and loved the windows. The hosts were extremely helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was lovely.
One of our shower heads had a mind of it's own, such a tiny thing easily outweighed by the positives.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very nice and bed was very comfortable. Excellent facilities in the room. Good location.
Excellent breakfast Location is quite convenient Quiet at night
The shortcut to train station was quite dirty
The hosts were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, including making breakfast early so we could catch a tour bus and then again the next day so we could catch our 7am train. They also helped us select a tour of the Highlands that we absolutely loved. The location was perfect and the room was called cozy.
