Good located within a 10 minute walk into the city centre. Breakfast was very good and staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice family-run B&B! The room has been a bit narrow, but no problem for a short-term stay.

Extremely friendly and welcoming. Breakfasts exceptionally well cooked and presented. Absolutely filling and a great choice to suit all palates. No problem with going off the menu. Fiona very helpful and friendly. Just what a b & b needs. Bedroom was on the small side and decor a little dated.

The Broughton is tucked away in a nice quiet location yet only 5 minutes from the main shopping area. Our host Fiona was welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. The room was spacious and well decorated. A quiet nights sleep was easily had as there was not a sound to be heard. Breakfast was a good choice and the best service I have had. A pre-emptive apology that breakfast may be delayed as a large order had been placed when I had just buttered some toast and it arrived!

We chose the Broughton because we were booked in to see a show at the Playhouse and it couldn't have been better situated, just at the end of the road. Our room was small but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and a very generous helping! The owners Fiona and Freddie were excellent hosts. Would visit again.

Fiona was the perfect landlady very helpful and always time for a chat, the location was quite central for shops and sight seeing but must stress not suitable for those with walking disabilities as it is a steep walk up to the shopping malls. The breakfast was very satisfactory with a fair selection of cereals and hot meals to choose from. Also parking at the rear of the premises was fantastic during our stay. Rooms fairly ordinary and could have used an armchair for late evenings.

Friendly and welcoming. Excellent location for central Edinburgh but quiet and at a reasonable price. Excellent breakfast. It wasn't a problem to us but all rooms are upstairs and the staircase is very steep with no lift.

Fine hosts with great breakfast, and willing to vary hours of service on a Sunday morning to suit guests. The shower room needed slight maintenance, mainly of a cosmetic nature.

The hotel is a 10 minutes walk from the Waverley bus station where you can find all the bus connections for visiting the city. The staff was very kind to us giving us suggestion for our stay. The breakfast was one of the best ever tried in all my travels. The rooms are nice, especially the ones on top floor, and clean. You have free wifi connection, tea coffee and biscuit in the room. It was a very good experience for us especially for the really friendly atmosphere.

I stayed at the Broughton Hotel for a long weekend with my adult daughter. We had a very enjoyable time and were very happy with the Broughton. Our room was spacious, clean and warm. The hotel is in a central location, but is in a quiet residential area. Fiona was very welcoming and helpful in advising re local places to go, and how to get there. Appreciated having a vegetarian option for breakfast, my daughter eats fish and enjoyed the kippers also. We would definitely stay at the Broughton again.

We loved it. Our room was small but perfecly formed. Which for us was OK as we did not spend much time in it except for sleeping. It was in a quiet back street 3mins walk from Leith Walk and 10 mins from the centre, 5mins from John Lewis and many restaurants. Breakfast was as good as we have had anywhere.Extremely friendly and helpful owners. Nothing too much trouble. We never give excellent scores as ecellence is something to try to achieve and can never be reached. With this in mind we would give it very good if there was one.

We loved the location of the hotel and it is a real building of charm and character so missing in purpose built mega modern hotels. The owners are lovely and make you feel that you are visiting friends as they make time to talk and chat to you personally. The rooms are nicely decorated and very cosy and warm. Breakfast in the morning was very relaxed and I have to say one of the nicest hotel breakfasts I have had the pleasure to enjoy. The local area is nice with plenty to do. We were there for the theatre and this is an excellent location for this event. I liked the hotel very much and hope to go back again as it provided good value for money and an ambience that unfortunately cannot be bought in purpose built mega block hotels. Very well done to Fiona and Freddie. I cannot find fault with the hotel or its owners

The hotel is in a good position with plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby and it is only a 10 minute walk from princes Street. The owners of this hotel were superb. Nothing was too much trouble. They were very welcoming and helpful, giving excellent local tourist information. The room was clean and well decorated. The food was fab! We stayed for new Year and on new Years Eve they put a bottle of whiskey and a can of iron brew as a gift in our room! What a nice touch! Would definitely recommend this b&B.
