Very friendly , facilities are generously proportioned - open log fires

Food was not as good as I remember , in that it could have been hotter and chips and battered finishes could have been crisper.

What makes the Brown Trout an excellent, and increasingly regular weekend break for me is the friendliness of the welcome, and of the staff. There is also a very homely environment. The various nooks and crannies around the bar (with two open fires in two of the rooms around the bar) makes it a welcome change from the huge bars with wood and chrome everywhere. This is a proper bar. The rooms are large, warm and comfortable with enormous beds that are extremely relaxing. The whole set up is at Brown Trout is geared to relaxation, do your own thing - where you can play the golf course or just chill and read papers or a book. To give you an idea of how the ethos of the Brown Trout is relaxation and customer care...breakfasts are served up to noon!! Good value and a place I will be returning to again ....

Staff friendly, food good, quiet and peacefull

Food to be recommended with good sized portions. Room was very spacious, shower excellent.

Some staff very efficient and pleasant, others a little slow on service. Lighting in room was not effective - you really need bedside lamps.

The staff was great.

The hotel bar was good but you can tell it is the locals that go.
