A beautiful building full of character and charm. Helpful staff. Lovely gardens. Good location for beaches and other attractions.
Stayed in top floor "Family room" - Long frilly valances on beds and bedside table cloths were dusty and dragged on the floor (My young Grandchildren afraid of concealed spiders!) Bedside tables very flimsy. Tea / Coffee making unit glass and quite fragile - not really suitable for having young children nearby. * Not the Hotel's fault* -, but the adjacent road is a busy A road, and footpaths through the village are virtually non existent. A very dangerous walk to the local shop and nearby pub and playground with two young children.
food was amazing - its not cheap but its worth the money for a treat the staff were great
we were in the attic room and the wifi didn't work
Bathroom and beds immaculate.good quality bedding and towels.staff very helpful and friendly. Beautiful and quirky house lots to look at and a lot of thought had been given. Gardens absolutely beautiful.
Bedroom a little dusty but this did not bother me.
The restaurant was lovely and food really good. Outside appearance lovely with plant, lights and garden. Communal rooms decorated to high standard but more for show than user friendly.
Advertised as having bar but this was in restaurant so staff had to bring out drinks. Communal rooms great décor but so many cushions hard to sit down and no clutter free surface to put drinks. Being charged same price for substitute room as one booked storm damaged, which had bathroom opposite not en suite as booked sink very slow draining dribble of a shower and was in attic so velux windows no view.No WiFi in room TV did not work. Told because in attic poor signal and that room would probably not be used after end of season yet still charged price of original room. Blood spots of squashed bugs on bedside table cloth.
Having to go back home!
first class food wine and service we had a fantastic weekend.
Bar drinks far too expensive/never paid £6. A pint For larger even in London. This was an major deal breaker for us.
The location and garden.
Gardens were beautiful and very relaxing. The lunchtime tapis menu was great
Food was very good but pricey and drinks expensive. Eg £6 for a pint of peroni. The hotel was dog friendly which was great and why we chose it but after you cleaned up after your dog there was no bins to dispose of waste.
A 10 per cent surcharge on whole bill - it was £60- not told about this before or on booking!
Wonderful hotel and room, food was amazing and staff really friendly I would definitely go back and recommend this place.
Old world charm with modern plumbing. Owner run by a very congenial couple. Excellent food. We had a standard room, but even that had space for a couple of armchairs. Incredibly good value. Lots to do in the area if you have a car.
The location was good.
The room was smelling of food, particularly late evenings and night. It could be that the chimney was close to the room. When I asked for more tea bags, as we are not coffee drinkers, it wasn't well received! The table often did not have butter on it and when we asked for it, the staff took really long, much after we finished eating bread!
Food - elegant, high quality Welcoming staff Lovely, relaxed although stylish interior Lovely location and buildings
A couple of mix up in orders Some of the staff were little tense/lack in focus
Easy to find Check in Food Setting
Very impressed by the interior design throughout. Our room was of a high standard , a huge bed , comfortable and stylish room and bathroom with attention to detail . the gardens were full of flowers and were really nice to sit in with comfortable seating. The service was polite and prompt and we enjoyed eating in the restaurant .
All of the above. We had a lovely stay and our dog Poppy was made very welcome too.
Location Room was lovely Garden to relax in
Starters were overpriced for what they were and tried to be a bit flashy with the food where not required (smoked salmon breakfast with colourants etc)
the place and location
the rain breakfast staff could interact more with the visitors. the breakfast itself did not live up to the image on the web of being an excellent place to stay for a culinary experience
The garden and dining room were lovely. Food was excellent and off a high quality. Nothing was too much trouble for Lee and Tanya, the staff who served us in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner.
The room was a bit too fussy for our liking - there was too much furniture ( we had a junior suite) which you had to negotiate to sit down, access the wardrobe (not enough hangers), make a couple of tea etc. Hotel appeared understaffed.
Superb evening menu. Good hosting. Good Breakfast. Attentive, polite staff.
Room was not clean. Jacuzzi water was brown!? No views, garden simply a back garden.
Great welcome, the gardens at the rear are superb for a drink or dinner, the food is excellent and the rooms are faultless. Could not recommend this hotel highly enough!!!
Fabulous country house, really beautiful location, staff were very helpful, food was amazing. Can't recommend this hotel high enough.
The food is like a tree michelin star!! Room is clean and very comfortable with a unique design, very detail and homey. Service is incredible. The staffs and owner are very friendly. We wish to stay longer!
Friendly atmosphere, pretty garden comfy bed, good chef but prefer a choice of some English food.
We booked a superior king size room overlooking the garden which was fine except for the noise after ten o'clock not from the garden but from, we think, the restaurant below being prepared.ie doors banging until midnight.
The bedroom was lovely, just what a family need The lounge was cosy and Hooch the resident dog was brilliant
Car park is small
