Nothing not to like really. I had a very enjoyable overnight stay. Evening meal was excellent, well presented and served. Staff all helpful and friendly.
I didn't find anything not to like
The location, staff and food was very good.
Our room had damp patches above the window.
The hotel grounds and the views are simply stunning and the public rooms are lovely. A very pleasant hotel with real character.
Poor service. Nobody at reception to check us in - a chap in builders kit gave us the key. Request for service to the room was not actioned. No explanation of breakfast options and no menu on the table.
Location, Evening Rotary charter dinner well served with nice food. Friendly and courteous staff Room- bedding and towels all clean and acceptable, and of a good standard.
Quality of room/size Was that determined ,because of Booking .com booking ? Would the quality have been different if booked direct with the hotel ,at their elevated prices? Poor housekeeping, dirty cups and saucers and tea pot from previous occupant. Cold Food at the breakfast buffet.more than one complaint about this occurrence
Lovely views, friendly and helpful staff.

Not much !
The Bar Meals were tasty and the prices were reasonable! Despite the need for the upgrading and better service, I cannot give this a bad rating! We have had 2 stopovers and a planned week end in the past without much complaint..!
Some guy in shorts and top appeared from office behind reception to check us in...receptionist was "doing something" he said...?? She did finish the check in...!! Later, with several residents awaiting attention in Bar and reception empty, I did manage to get the chef and advise that there were no staff around..."they're helping to move tiles" was the response...!! What..?? ALL of them..?? Eventually, there was some normality....upon insistance... and the 7 waiting clientel got attention.!
Setting and location simply stunning
Rooms very dated Décor in main part of hotel tired Waited 10 minutes before anyone attended reception to check us in The only bar available was full of wedding attendees, should have been alternative available. We were asked to move out of reception area as it was being cleared in readiness to serve canapés & drinks to wedding guests!! No ice for drinks at evening reception, suggested staff went out for some - met with a look of disbelief - we weren't joking!! Won't be returning anytime soon, so disappointed!
The location overlooking the canal and the fantastic panorama of the mountains with ever changing vistas caused by the constant weather movements were superb. The whole hotel was very pleasant, comfortable and peaceful. We enjoyed our second stay immensely. Recommended. Thank you,Bryn Howel.
Location, food in restaurant good
Breakfast buffet, prefer individual service
The hotel setting is really beautiful, and we received a really warm welcome from the staff. We were well looked after for our weekend stay.
It was very cold in the bar and the lounge next to the bar. All the other areas of the hotel were well heated, but we froze when we were in the bar.
- the view over the vale - the architecture = beautiful wood paneling and ornate plasterwork ceilings - closeness to llangollen
having to leave the peace and quiet to go back home
Beautiful setting. Friendly Staff. Excellent breakfast Booked a one night stay in a double standard room and given a free upgrade to a suite which was lovely. Would definitely book again.
Lovely quiet countryside location
very pleasant staff. v. good breakfast. in v nice countryside & near to LLangollen and canal aqueduct.
The views were top-notch, this is the reason we will come back (and the price was reasonable). The bar looked very nice, old-fashioned, and the breakfast was great
Rooms and hallways are dated, but it is a three-star hotel.
Good location and spacious grounds.
Not very welcoming reception staff.
We liked the pleasant staff, the view from the dining room and food quality.
Wifi not capable of reaching the bedroom.
when arriving at the hotel the staff on reception was very pleasant and helpful, room was comfortable and very clean, breakfast was good value and cooked nice and hot Diane in the restaurant for breakfast was very pleasant and cheerful too, hotal is old but got character not like modern hotels, people who have put reviews before and moaned about this hotel obviously dont look beyond the end of their nose, my wife and I will be back in the future and hopefully stay longer and walk the canal
nothing to dislike when we stayed it may be different if very busy but we could not fault anything
Location and views.
Wi Fi not available in room.
Impersonal compared with our other accommodation. Choice of beers.
Food Spa Bath Location
Very good food and staff in restaurant were good
Service of the room was poor and there seemed to be a shortage of staff at times.
The staff were great. A lot of the hotel is charming, ( main foyer, dining room) lovely location. Bed and bathroom linens were super and spotlessly clean.
Some of the parts of the hotel are in desperate need of renovation. The rooms are okay, but bathrooms very dated. Beds were not comfortable, and only single glazed windows. Unfortunatly for us, we stayed the night of a big, rowdy wedding crowd, so didn't get much sleep when they came back.
This was our 3rd stay at Bryn Howel. It never fails to deliver. Delicious food in the restaurant, served by attentive but not intrusive staff. The breakfast was massive..never had scrambled and fried egg on one plate before! After checking into our room we realised the tv was not working.I let reception know and a lovely man called Ian (who turned out to be the new food and beverage manager) came up to see what could be done. 10 minutes later we were upgraded to The Maestro Suite! Can't recommend Bryn Howel too highly and we'll be back again!
