all ways come back here fantastic place to stay
Staff were helpful when not busy
Room was freezing, complained about it, had to wait till 9.30 at night for someone to come and look, eventually he came and used my coffee cup to bleed the radiator, was moved eventually to a nicer room, but it was very late. Couldn't relax!! Good food though!
The location is fantastic with the canal nearby and lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The staff are really friendly and helpful and take time to chat with you.The Christmas decorations were done with attention to detail.
Some of the guest rooms could do with some redecoration, but the public areas have been kept in the character of the house.
Lovely open fire in the bar which was very cosy on the night we arrived. Bar meal & breakfast both excellent. Will definitely stay here again
Linen & towels clean and fresh Bathroom clean & presentable if tired
Wifi poor/NO signal Tired decor TV was old with poor reception
Lovely view, very comfortable bed
Radiators & heated towel rail not working properly, extractor fan in bathroom not working.
Quiet, large room. Super bathroom. Great breakfast. Superb quality hotel building and grounds.
Excellent Location for walking to LLangollen. Nice building and old features. Staff were very friendly and helpful
The location is idyllic, in a beautiful valley with a canal and river nearby. A former mansion, it has been tastefully extended retaining many original features and some great views. Friendly and efficient. Great breakfast.
The room was adequate but the bed was basic and uncomfortable. Very warm heating.
This hotel is fantastic and great value. For us the location was the highlight of our stay. We only stayed one night but are considering going back in the new year to take more advantage of the beautiful surroundings. Staff are very friendly and courteous but not over the top, just enough to make your stay special.
nothing negative about this hotel
Good hotel great staff and excellent breakfast
The breakfast was excellent as was the size of the room - good value.
There is a silly set up at breakfast which no one warns you of where your room is allocated a table. We wandered in, served ourselves from the buffet and had started to eat before being unceremoniously asked to move as the table we had chosen (with no reserved sign) had been set up for lunch. We did as we were asked and moved only to watch another two couples sit down at the table we had just left and again, be asked to move. Surely it would be far simpler to either place a reserved sign on the tables you don't want people to choose, advise people that they are pre-allocated a table for breakfast at check-in, have someone greet people and guide them to their table or simply just wait until after breakfast service to lay the tables for lunch!
excellent service, friendly staff, warm inviting reception and hotel,
excellent menu in general but like 90% of establishments a poor choice of vegiterian food on the menu.A pity as it is so easy to prep.
- extremely helpful and supportive staff (despite my late arrival after 11 pm!) - vast room (despite booking a single accommodation) - extremely spacious bathroom with huge mirror, plenty of shelf space and JETTED TUB!!! WOW!!! - large choice of cooked breakfast items incl. fried black pudding and potato cakes next to the usual sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, bacon, eggs (fried or scrambled) and baked beans - the hotel building is a lovely old timber frame house, beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished; it feels like visiting a country mansion of an Earl... - remote location guarantees a peaceful and quiet night - extremely good value for money!
- WiFi in rooms on 1st and 2nd floor were out of order during the night of my stay; I've been informed about this temporary problem by the receptionist upon my arrival - no cooked breakfast before 7.30 am on a weekday; cereals, tea & coffee are available as of 7.10 am - bathroom showed obvious signs of wear & tear
The location and surroundings. The old world charm. A good restaurant. Value for money.
One or two maintenance items needed fixing.
Nothing not to like really. I had a very enjoyable overnight stay. Evening meal was excellent, well presented and served. Staff all helpful and friendly.
I didn't find anything not to like
The location, staff and food was very good.
Our room had damp patches above the window.
The hotel grounds and the views are simply stunning and the public rooms are lovely. A very pleasant hotel with real character.
Poor service. Nobody at reception to check us in - a chap in builders kit gave us the key. Request for service to the room was not actioned. No explanation of breakfast options and no menu on the table.
Location, Evening Rotary charter dinner well served with nice food. Friendly and courteous staff Room- bedding and towels all clean and acceptable, and of a good standard.
Quality of room/size Was that determined ,because of Booking .com booking ? Would the quality have been different if booked direct with the hotel ,at their elevated prices? Poor housekeeping, dirty cups and saucers and tea pot from previous occupant. Cold Food at the breakfast buffet.more than one complaint about this occurrence
Lovely views, friendly and helpful staff.

Not much !
The Bar Meals were tasty and the prices were reasonable! Despite the need for the upgrading and better service, I cannot give this a bad rating! We have had 2 stopovers and a planned week end in the past without much complaint..!
Some guy in shorts and top appeared from office behind reception to check us in...receptionist was "doing something" he said...?? She did finish the check in...!! Later, with several residents awaiting attention in Bar and reception empty, I did manage to get the chef and advise that there were no staff around..."they're helping to move tiles" was the response...!! What..?? ALL of them..?? Eventually, there was some normality....upon insistance... and the 7 waiting clientel got attention.!
Setting and location simply stunning
Rooms very dated Décor in main part of hotel tired Waited 10 minutes before anyone attended reception to check us in The only bar available was full of wedding attendees, should have been alternative available. We were asked to move out of reception area as it was being cleared in readiness to serve canapés & drinks to wedding guests!! No ice for drinks at evening reception, suggested staff went out for some - met with a look of disbelief - we weren't joking!! Won't be returning anytime soon, so disappointed!
The location overlooking the canal and the fantastic panorama of the mountains with ever changing vistas caused by the constant weather movements were superb. The whole hotel was very pleasant, comfortable and peaceful. We enjoyed our second stay immensely. Recommended. Thank you,Bryn Howel.
Location, food in restaurant good
Breakfast buffet, prefer individual service
