Buckingham Hotel1-2 Burlington Road, SK17 9AS Buxton (Show map) Very good, Score from 198 reviews“We had a great stay at the Buckingham, we stayed in a suite wich was large and well laid out, the only thing i would have like in such a large bathroom would have been a shower as well as a bath. Extremely friendly staff especially at reception. Very extensive menu - variety at breatfast amazing. We loved the quirky nature of the building and the theatre/film start themes. Ideal as we were in Buxton for a trip to the Opera House. We loved the display of print outs of the day's front page news from newspapers across the world. Beds extremely comfortable with lovely clean sheets and towels. For the price the hotel met our needs completely and we'd stay again. It's not for a luxury break but as a friendly hotel it cannot be faulted. In a lovely location and easy to find. Only downside was the noise from the 'boy racers' in nearby carpark during the night .. but the hotel cannot be responsible for this. Some of the decoration looks tired, and whilst bathroom was spotless the basin was cracked .. obviously someone had dropped something into it.

The hotel was very good value for money and in a great location, parking was no problem thanks to the customer carpark. Our room was large and comfortable and the real-ale bar was a lovely treat too. I wasn't overly keen on the choice of pictures in our room, we had nine framed photos and all were of the same actor.

Excellent location, just near the Pavillion Gardens and within easy access of Buxton and the surrounding countryside. Spacious and comfortable bedroom and bathroom. There was a bar and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent, again the staff were friendly.

There wasn't anything I didn't like. Although the pics of John Travolta all over the room were sometimes a little strange when you're with your lady....

This is not a travelodge type of hotel, its got character. Outstanding breakfast and very welcoming staff. You do go back in time a little in this hotel (but is that a bad thing?)

You have missed out Cultural Pursuits on the above table above I joined my friend who lives near Ashbourne -to go to the matinee performance of Death by Fatal Murder at the Opera House on saturday - and to the evening performance or The Magic Flute on Sunday. The Buckingham is just across the park from the opera House. -Convenient. Very good breakfast. Friendly staff. Warm and comfortable rooms Decor could be improved maybe -but not important.

It was warm (but probably because the heating was working overtime to counteract the front door being permanently left open). Staff were friendly and the breakfasts were decent. Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels. Great supply of guide books are available. The rooms were in need of a deep clean and/or refurbishment. The bathrooms were outdated. TVs need replacing. Wi-Fi only worked intermittently. The 'quirky' film theme (pictures of film stars wherever you go) is tired and worn, as are the pictures of football players/teams which adorn one wall. The workmen who stay overnight provide an unwelcome wake-up call.

Stayed here before. It is a smallish friendly hotel with a good real ale bar and decent food. The rooms are comfy and good value for short stays. Creaky stairs.

room was very spacious and bathroom had a lovely roll top bath big enough for two.the bed was very comfortable. lovely building in a great location with plenty of parking. Nothing coordinated . curtains, carpets, linen and furniture must of all be chosen by different people. The really dated decor left the impression the the hotel badly needed a refurbishment. people drinking outside were noisy and should of been asked to leave or come inside once bar closed. they didn't leave until past one in the morning which was annoying for us trying to sleep above them.

The Bathroom The boy racers that occupied the car park and used it as a race track in the Early Hours, the arrival of the police in force, during the Early Hours, arresting members of staff. Being used as a porter for the police to gain entrance in the Early Hours. 2 Nights Stay and we hardly slept. We had an 18month and an 8yr old, for a special quiet weekend away - 40th Birthday treat off my Mum.
