The bed was very uncomfortable, definitely need new mattresses and new pillows.Hotel in general needs an update.Breakfast was good.
The hotel was very dated. In need of a revamp! Wouldn't stay there again.
Fun, quirky decor and friendly staff.
Good location & nice bar.
Wasnt anything to dislike!
We had booked 2 double bed rooms and 1 triple room. Our double bedroom was quite modern. Staff were quite friendly.
However, the couple in the other double bedroom did not have a great sleep. The room with the 3 beds was very old and requires modernising. The mattress was too soft and the room was too hot even with the heaters off!
Comfortable bed quiet room plenty of hot water and clean Easy walking distance in to town and theatre and parking at hotel was good
The room was on lower ground floor which was fine as it was quiet and warm. Room was lovely and facilities very good loved the bathroom , beds comfy and linen first class.
would have liked eggs of some description for breakfast ie scrambled would have been nice, otherwise adequate at breakfast.
The hotel was well located for walking to the town centre. The rooms were spacious. Bathrooms and bed linen were clean.
The hotel is very shabby and in need of refurbishment. Room security was poor as windows did not lock + only Yale lock on the door. One room was uncomfortably hot (possibly from machinery).
It's a lovely large comfortable room with a beautiful bathroom
excellent location for Buxton centre.
very tired hotel
Friendly staff and good food. Free parking.
Décor was a little dated but had a quirky charm to it - beer was a little expensive though.
This hotel has a celebrity theme with posters and memorabilia on every space which me and my partner quite enjoyed reminiscing over. Would stay here again because very close to the opera house. Our room was warm and comfortable, tea and coffee facilities were very good.
Had quite a poor sleep because we couldn't shut the window. The toilet kept over flowing and the cold water tap was hot water. We were in the pierce brosnan suite.
Quiet 10 minutes to the train station next to the promanarde Lovley views
Old fashioned in every aspect Poor breakfast
This hotel offers excellent value for money and would recommend it to anyone who is going to do a short stay Excellent value for money Friendly staff Good bathroom Comfortable bad Good TV options Nice Bar
The decor was I a bit old and dated and the hotel could do with some redecoration Not much wireless connectivity in my room
Friendly bar with good ales.
Extra charge for breakfast.
Location of hotel and size of room was good
breakfast is only served until 0930 on weekends which is early...10am would be better. The rooms have a 2 inch gap under the external door so you can hear and be heard by all....the hotel is very dated in its décor and in places the wall paper is hanging off. staff smoke outside the main entrance and then come straight in to serve you.
Good location, comfortable room & large car park.
Pictures throughout hotel were a bit weird especially In the lift.
The hotel is in a lovely spot opposite the pavilion gardens. It provides a good base for exploring the area.
The hotel felt a little dated but was adequate and comfortable. The staff were pleasant but nothing exceptional.
Very friendly and not full of old people, (I am 65 but am often the youngest one at many Buxton Hotels)!!
Quirky (themes etc) but absolutely first rate. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
What's not to like?
The location is great! Close to the pavillion park and cavaren & country park. The shops in the town center are also minutes' walk away.
The house was really old and tired. We could feel the room floor trembling when someone is climbing the stairs! The wall was not very sound proof so we did not sleep so well.
Willingness of the one member of staff (apparently the only one) in the hotel when I arrived - and a different one next morning.
I have never arrived in a hotel where the beds have not been made up, and I am invited to find some blankets in a cupboard and do it myself! That's not what I pay for! And nobody seemed surprised when I refused the hotel breakfast.
location value for money breakfast the "special" decoration (movies theme)
my room was on the lower ground floor and so a bit dark
Good central location close to all amenaties - walking distance
Rooms rather tired looking - could do with a makeover
Traditional building public sitting room personal pictures
television in eating area. Food ordinary Don't know about restaurant. As there was no one eating there, did not try it. breakfast seemed expensive for what appeared to be offered. Did not try it
