Brilliant location for visiting Chatsworth House and Bolsover Castle.
Loved the market town vibe and the twisted spire on the church was fascinating. No climbs inside, til the spring and summer though.
Some fascinating architecture to see and a brilliantly helpful Tourist Information Office where we got a couple of town walk maps.

Second only visit to the city of the "Twisted Spire" even though only for a brief stay over pleasant enough. Have to add the young lady who booked us in at the Spread Eagle was absolutely charming and a credit...will surely have no hesitation in re-booking...so it's a Ten! from Len :)

What attracted me was the proximity to Chatsworth and the Peak District. Quick drive to and from Baslow.
Did not eat in Chesterfield but in the "Il Lupo" in Baslow (excellent Italian restaurant)

The outdoor market...what a joke, only a handful of stalls!
The outdoor market...what a joke, only a handful of stalls! Not worth a trip. No disrespect to those who work there but the place was empty!!! We spent more money on parking!!! Nice meat purchased at the indoor market and theres a well stocked cheese shop. The council need to update their website and let travellers know what to expect from the town centre.
Can't think of any reason to return.
Have stayed previously and will stay again. We stayed in a slightly smaller room than normal but the facilities are just the same. All the meals were perfect. The four of us each had a different main course, as we always do, and everyone one of them was beautifully prepared. Would seriously recommend the chicken dinner. Breakfast was served in the “pub” and was similarly substantial with extra teas and coffee brought to us on request. Some hotels we frequent are not so generous. Will return in near future and looking forward to it.
Non pretentious … good staff . Nice spa and treatments . Food excellent. Mostly dog friendly. Good rooms ground floor for dog but take your own bedding for pet and bowls doggy bags etc.
Next to car park lots of land for dog to go. Nice walk by canal only 10 mins walk from hotel. Can walk to chesterfield and back .. restaurant area for dogs nice. Food was excellent and i had two dine in room nights also . Room service excellent. Ran back and forth to get me ice /tea bags etc… with a smile.
James was extremely friendly and helpful, with lots of information and even assisted us in providing an emergency iron and ironing board. We booked three rooms and all were larger than expected and well equipped and very comfortable. Breakfast was great, easy for us to help ourselves based on our own schedule. Location easy to find, adequate parking at hotel plus street parking and local car park nearby. Easy walking into Chesterfield, all exceeding our expectations.
The staff were great, really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Mary who worked on the breakfasts was lovely and gave us lots of information about the surrounding area. Room was nice if a bit on the small side, but it was nicely done out and looked as if it had been refurbished. The position of it just off the motorway was ideal. The food was also nice and quite a good choice.
spacious two bedrooms both with on suite sofa bed in lounge
televisions in bedrooms and lounge
apartment well stocked with everything we needed
microwave kettle and toaster
supermarkets and Chesterfield city centre within ten minute walk or two mins by car
really comfortable beds
A warm welcome, hotel location is ideal for town centre, free parking, very clean and the shower was excellent, the addition of the complimentary breakfast was nice. The Spread Eagle is certainly good value, just a pity we hadn't more time to visit the bar, maybe next time!
Really nice hotel, with a comfy bed, plenty of parking and lots of choice in terms of food with it having it's own facilities, but with it also being near a trading estate (with a Tescos and KFC) and near to Chesterfield.
Beautifully kept hotel, nice modern decor, rooms very good size, plenty of in room facilities (iron and ironing board, plenty tea/coffee, alcoholic drinks in fridge)
Red Lion next door is a lovely pub.
We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the room. The room was very clean and comfortable. Bed was clean and comfy. The hotel was in the centre of the town and within walking distance of everything
all food exceptional room amazing everything about this hotel is brilliant.Staff polite nothing is too much trouble.
Ideal location just outside Chesterfield close to Bakewell and other tourist areas.
Room lovely and spacious with personal touches. Lovely onsuite. Ease of checking out. Side door for evening to re enter hotel. Lovely restaurant. Very central. Will def return if in area.
Location good for visiting Chesterfield Town centre and Chatsworth and some friends in the area. A nice extra was having a goodie basket. The studio was well planned and warm.
