Unable to give a fair assessment as it was during the transition to new owners.

No evening meals or Sunday lunches available. The shower cubicle was to small and nowhere to put toiletries in the cubicle or to hang towels. I was not advised at time of booking about the lack of services.

Friendliness of staff, location and food. That the bill was reduced in consideration of lack of quality towells.

Creaky beds, tattered towells. However, it was explained they were closing shortly and not replacing stock.

Was made to feel 'at home'. As a lone female, I felt comfortable and not intimidated, as can happen in other hotels I have stayed at. Staff very warm and welcoming, beds very comfy and very quiet at night. Was visiting family for a funeral, and this was my first stay at the Bug and Spider, but will return.

As a vegetarian, it would be nice to see more options on the menu, but my needs were met on request.

    Clean room. Low rate.

No dinner served when I stayed (Saturday night) and breakfast served from 8:30am, after I had left. However it is a budget B&B so perhaps I was expecting too much.

Close to where we needed to be, beds were comfortable and breakfast was fair. Staff seemed friendly enough.

When we arrived, the first room we were taken to was not yet cleaned. We were then "upgraded" to the family room which was being used as a temporary storage space for all the washing and other hotel bits and bobs. The room was quickly tidied up, but the carpet was covered in laundry fluff and needed a good vacuum (it never happened) we were only staying one night and didn't want to ruin our vibe by moaning about everything. We had to ask for towels, we were promised these but it never happened so in the end I just nipped into the storage cupboard near our room and took a couple of towels. Friendly enough people but not very good at what they do for a living... Maybe we caught them on an off period?

Excellent parking, away from main town centre, so peaceful. Centre only a few minutes away, though, so good there, too!

Breakfast could have been a bit bigger!

I was with a friend and we were researching our ancestors at the Wiltshire & Swindon Family History Centre in nearby Chippenham. We loved the way an ancient building had kept its old ambiance while being modern..The staff were really great. There was a "you're part of the family" atmosphere.

Not much to say here. Breakfast was a bit spartan but I know if we'd asked for something cooked we would have got it. We were satisfied with what we had. The next question will have to be answered "yes" but we didn't see a lot of Calne.
