The staff did everything possible to be helpful despite the challenges that they faced. They deserve a medal.
The key to our room didn't work but was eventually opened by our house key! The cleanliness of the room was poor but the cleanliness of the shower was horrendous.
Lovely old pub with exposed beams and low ceilings full of character. Staff were very helpful and attentive. The breakfast was great and service impeccable.
very good breakfast. friendly guy at reception.
Noise early in the morning because they were moving barrels. They took a lot of money of my account as they 'made a mistake' charging me for nights I didn't stay. It took ages to get my money back, I had to make about 5 phone calls chasing my own money. If I hadn't noticed it, I would never have gotten my money back. Unfriendly manager.
Best pub stay we have found. Cosy pub really inviting lovely decor. Great food - dinner and breakfast all freshly cooked. Lovely village location near river walks. Would also work for affordable accommodation for London visit. Loved it.
Excellent staff,very good food,good atmosphere.
Room decor looking tired, bathroom door not shutting properly.
The food and the atmosphere is good. The location is good for Reading. The staff were friendly and helpful
The room was clean but shabby with curtains hanging off the rails, lights not working, door knobs falling off the wardrobe and a very grim moldy shower mat - the room was over priced. The breakfast however was very good with a good menu, loads of choice and freshly cooked.
Excellent breakfast Good shower
A brilliant night. I booked at three hours notice having found I was working in the area the next day. I had a great time relaxing in one of the friendliest bars I have ever been in and wondered upstairs at the end for a great nights sleep.
Friendly, welcoming, very good value room and food? Great place to eat and drink.
Low ceiling. Being 6ft 4in, I hit my head many times on the delightful, feature beams!!
The location is stunning, set along the Thames in a beautiful village. Our stay was in October and we thought it was gorgeous and peaceful. We will return in the Summer to see the Wisteria in full bloom, which will add again to the beauty of this lovely pub and it's location. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Dinner was fantastic, the room was spacious and very comfortable, and the bed was to die for ! The full English was perfect for setting us on our way after a lovely stay. We will definitely return. :-)
Quiet situation on lovely location in sleepy village. Attention to detail was good as was food and drinks.
Location, food, ambience
everything was great!
Service and willingness of staff very good. Room a bit cramped but clean.Evening meal lovely.
Breakfast poached eggs had shell in it and tasted of vinegar and a bit mangled. Everything else was very nice
Proximity to Thames Path. Delightful village. Good food.
Bar is busy until closing time so can be a bit noisy.
Gorgeous character pub, terrific meal in restaurant. Nice large bath towels, very friendly staff
Had a slight problem with hit water, however not a huge problem
The parking is not convienient but is easy to overcome, just find a sopt in the village and wander the short distance to the pub if the carpark is full. Its a great place to stay. Food and service was fantastic.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. It is a quaint property in a fabulous, tranquil location. Peaceful and very quiet at night. The river is rift there with a beautiful tow path.
The (beautifully decorated) room needed a good clean, but the bathroom was just downright filthy. Pubic hairs in the shower even after I complained begrudgingly and they cleaned it. The towels smelt like stale food. What a shame - it could be stunning.
Pub with character Breakfast Staff friendly
Mildew in bathrooms. No mixer taps in sink Rooms dirty. Carpeting in rooms. Noise from pub Tiny rooms. No space to open suitcase. Major need of spring cleaning and upgrading rooms and bathrooms
Quaint English location and historic building. Staff friendly. Food ok.
Could have been fresher. Communal areas looking very tired.
The stories from Dennis re Jimmy Paige, the Delicious breakfast & the charming room :)
Lovely upgraded room. Very comfortable superking bed. Quiet setting. Great breakfast. Friendly owners. Great location for going to the dinner theatre at Sonning and helpful staff showed us the shortcut through the churchyard.
Had to ask for milk for tea in room . Quickly rectified but meant fresh milk was out in room overnight . If you are going to put sauce in little dishes with teaspoons [which I hate anyway] don't hand over a part used dish from another table when asked for sauce. Minor gripes though in otherwise perfect stay.
This is the second time I have stayed at the Bull, and as before the staff were great, service excellent, and the room well presented. Dinner was absolutely lovely, and the atmosphere is always good. Breakfast was good, quick and efficient service, and again friendly chap doing breakfast. Would highly recommend it to anyone, just wish I was there for pleasure rather than work!
Nothing - apart from the group on the next table to me for dinner!! Know-all chap holding forth on everything - lol !!
Highlights were a very comfy bed and a small but quiet and clean room with tea making ironing board TV and shower. Staff were very friendly, truly excellent food and lovely walks in surrounding rural area. Hop on a mini Reading to Henley cruise just a few minutes walk up the river. Other restaurants nearby and a small theatre round the corner!
Not much to complain about other than we though the room was a little pricey for its modest size. The shower head needed some attention as well,
