Actually finding the Bull, while not exactly a bad experience, was quite tricky - Sonning is extremely congested and the turning into High Street is easy to miss. Once found, however, the inn is a historic and picturesque building in a very pleasant situation. Modernising a grade 2 Listed Building is far from easy and one or two false notes have been struck, like the dim lighting and rather random selection of furniture in our room, but these are niggles which did not detract from a very pleasant stay.
We have nothing but praise for the staff, who were without exception cheerful, friendly and helpful. The Bull is a pub and not a hotel and guests do need to remember that, but for overnight stays it is perfectly adequate. The breakfast, though, was generous and well served enough to put many hotels to shame.
