Staff , decor and facilities lovely Owner obviously takes immense pride in his establishment and was very welcoming. The goodbye letter with the bill was a nice touch.
The coffee at breakfast was too weak!!!
Loved the central location. Staff we're very helpful and atmosphere was welcoming. Breakfast fantastic!
Areas to relax in No request was too much trouble Family Rooms was perfect for family of 5
No evening meal Chef at the time we stayed.
Lovely character hotel, staff very helpful & friendly. Nice hospitality tray.
Bathrooms needed updating, needs a new shower and hairdryer was very old fashioned, hardly worked. I am always suspicious of a sheet under a duvet cover, do they change the duvet cover every time a new guest arrives??? I wasn't so sure ?????
Excellent location right in middle of high street.
Staff and location and decor.
Mattress was way too soft on four later bedroom
Room is beatiful. Useless if you cannot sleep properly.
WiFi does not work. To many noise. The floor is from wood and I could hear always the steps from the neihbours. Breakfast is very poor. The Bull at Burford, just beside is much cheaper and offers a much better breakfast.
Good location and decent breakfast albeit for a very limited time frame on a Sunday morning no doubt due to the early 10.30am checkout time.
Rather over priced for a room and en suite that was in need of some updating, although it did have some good features (window seat and sofa), suppose that is the Cotswolds though! The stay was ruined somewhat by us being woken at 4.30am by a party in the room above us which went on until around 8am despite us complaining to reception. Not what you want when escaping Central London for the weekend hoping for some peace and quiet. The half hearted apology as we paid the next day wasn't really enough to make up for it unfortunately.
Burford House is very well located on the Main Street through the town. But this does mean it has no car parking and traffic noise is noticeable until quite late into the night. The furnishings and facilities are good but be aware the restaurant is not open every night and would not be described as cheap. The breakfast was excellent though.
Our room was up some VERY steep stairs. This was no problem for us but for some older but regular travellers (my 82 year old mother for example) the room would have been inaccessible. I'm not sure what would have been the response if we had been her and unable to get to the room: maybe I missed a warning in the hotel literature about this?
The staff were welcoming, helpful and professional, the room comfortable and full of character. Breakfast was also excellent. The location was ideal for exploring the town.
The toilet was positioned in quite a tight space in the bathroom. No other dislikes
Right in the heart of Burford, so a short walk to everywhere !
Breakfast finishes at 9.45am on a Saturday which is a bit early for us !!
Fabulous room Southrop bought us back for a second time - big comfy four poster bed and adjoining twin for kids. Feels like a mini suite! Friendly proprietor, Ian makes you feel very welcome.
Although parking has always been easy on the street, it's still stressful to turun up and have to park nearby and hustle with little kids and luggage.
Size and comfort ot the room, together with all the facilities one could possibly require
No al a carte menu available for an evening meal
The owner was really welcoming and even though the chef had gone off poorly, he was able to direct us to pubs within walking distance. The cooked breakfast in the morning was excellent our room was perfect and lovely and quite at night - no traffic noise, would defiantly recommend this hotel to friends and family
position ok but no parking
Whole building shabby in and out Bed linen: stained bedspread, worn out blanket with hole in it Room poky. Only 1 window opened, other broken Breakfast on Sunday finished 9 45 V poor value for money
A very cosy and pleasent hotel. We loved it!
Room was great, clean, comfortable, roomy and right off a lovely enclosed patio. Fabulous location right on High Street.
Bed v comfortable and lots of space. Staff v friendly and accommodating.
Excellent service, great breakfast, ideal location. Our garden fronted second story room was quiet. The staff could not have been more helpful. We had dinner at the hotel one night - tasty but expensive.
Newly installed cable was spotty - picture came off and on, due to faulty wiring. Proprietor attempted to fix the problem with only temporary results. Toilet, also recently 'fixed' did not always flush correctly. I am guessing that a room fronted by the main road, would be noisy.
Location on Burford High Street was great for shopping and eating. Owner Ian was very helpful and friendly. Comfortable and stylish.
Warm weather meant we needed the windows open at night and we were surprised by the extent of the noise from the heavy traffic that trundles relentlessly up and down the high street.
Everything about the hotel! I wish we could have stayed longer
The only negative is that my room was right on the high street and the noise from the traffic was very loud
Setting, lovely bed and comfortable surroundings.
Initially, the booking couldn't be found. Breakfast waiter could have been friendlier! Iron blew the fuses in the room, fortunately this was just before we were leaving.
Lovely room with four-poster bed and very good bathroom including excellent shower. Appreciated provision of fan on hot night as front facing room can be noisy early morning. Good tea and coffee facilities and quality soaps etc! Breakfast was very good and the coffee was particularly delicious.
Can't really think of anything! What a great choice - Burford is a lovely country town and Burford House makes the visit complete.
