Score from 140 reviews Very good
The room - Junior Suite Breakfast
Road noise Lack of evening meals
Clean and nicely decorated
The bed was really uncomfortable with one side so soft you nearly Fell out of it The iron bed frame also creaked which was a great combination
Very warm & friendly welcome. Wonderful crisp white cotton bedding including duvet covers. Surpringly quiet despite being on a noisy, busy road.
Minor gripe - Breakfast didn't start until 8.00, maybe 7.30 would be more convenient.
very friendly staff comfortable seating in bar easy to find with a good car park good breakfast
nothing to mention
Can't think of anything...
I had heard good things about this place but it seems it has changed hands since then. It is very misleading, should be graded 2 star.
VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF
Burford lodge was easy to find and in walking distance to the main st of Burford . The staff were most helpful in recommending places to eat and things to do. The room we stayed in was lovely, although the ensuite was small you come to expect this in the uk. Breakfast was lovely.
Right on a main rd , but our room was near the back so quiet for sleeping
We were quite a big group of 12 people in town for a wedding. The manager was very helpful and booked taxis for us to and from the venue. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We stayed in the four poster bedroom which was very comfortable. We also requested late check out and were allowed to stay until 12pm which we were very grateful for - a 10.30am checkout the morning after a wedding is not fun! The bed was very comfortable and even though our room looked over the main road it was not noisy and we slept well.
When I checked out there was an extra cost to the room for some food and drink that had been charged to it. I asked for an itemised bill so I could see the cost of the room and food and drink separately but they were not able to provide it which I was not impressed with. I was promised it would be sent to me the following day but I'm still waiting. Overall though this is a minor complaint.
Everything - Parking facilities Shed to keep mountain bikes - so excellent to guests thinking of bringing bikes Nice room Friendly staff Lovely breakfast
Only criticism and this is personal taste - I prefer my scrambled eggs more scrambled but that's just me!!!
Breakfast Pleasant staff Plenty of car park space 10 min walk into Burford
Traffic noise at night Room warm and supplied fan was noisy
Friendly staff good breakfast and cleanliness.
Very noisy due to being on main road.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel nicely positioned to walk into Burford, which is a lovely place with lots of shops and places to eat.
Location - within easy reach of Burford town. Good service. Good breakfast. Fast service with polite, smiling staff. Large car park. Nice old building with loads of character. Lovely soft bed, clean white crisp sheets. Lovely power shower with clean fluffy towels every day.Loads of hot water day and night. Complimentary bottles of water.
Hotel was on a main road and although the noise didn't interfere with our sleep, others may find it a problem, especially if they like a lie in! Only one window in the room we had which didn't let in much light but then we only needed the room to sleep in, so didn't really bother us, Bodingtons wasn't very nice as it had only been put in the day before, but it wont stop us going back there!!
Staff very helpful
Most bedrooms have windows onto A40 a busy road No evening meals Parts in need of updating Probably overpriced for the facilities
Nothing was too much trouble for them. Location easy walk into town, bit of a climb back that burns off a few calaries.
Bar at night a bit quiet, having said that our visit was mid week.
Manager tried to be helpful
Cooked Breakfast was not very good at all it was warm rather than hot sausages were not particularly good quality as was bread for toast.traffic noise from very early morning.changed hands last October 8.2 reviews must have been for previous owners.
The young man on the reception desk was lovely very helpful The Junior suite that we stayed in was excellent it was very big and comfy
Helpful and friendly staff Great location for the Cotswolds
Not a dislike, but no evening food, although after chatting with the owners, they are looking for a top quality chef before they start offering food. If it's anything like the breakfast offered, it will be top notch.
Loved the building and style of bedroom. Gorgeous decor and cosy bed. Staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Close to burford centre.
The proximity to the road. Quite a bit of road noise.
Great hotel , reasonable priced. Central location. Very friendly staff .would definatley book again and recommend to friends.
Jerry and the rest of the team were very friendly from the outset and made our stay very welcoming. They were particularly good with our young son. Thank you to the team.
Nothing. But if there was something I could say maybe if they could serve meals but this isn't a criticism more of a suggestion.
On arriving the manager Shuai Hou greeted us warmly and with a big smile which never left his face,he was a diamond of a guy, always on hand to do his best to make our stay pleasant. The room was compact but was enough for our 2 night stay, bathroom was very good,we liked the 3 different hand pump bottles, hand wash, body lotion and shower gell/shampoo this was a plus also the power shower was great. We stayed in room 4 over looking the golf course which had a nice view. The bed was really warm and comfy which was nice as the weather was on the cold side for august. The breakfast was superb but maybe this was because Shuai was on cooking duties during our stay ha ha.Yes you do have to inform them the day before but does it matter!!!!!!!!!.It was fresh and hot which is the most important part.Car parking is not a problem here.Overall we would recommend this hotel but only if Shuai was there as manager as he really wants to make changes to improve things.
You have to cross a busy A40 to walk into Burford which is about a 10/15 min walk. Also they don't do an evening meal at present which could be a problem for some guests but this is an issue that the manager is trying to resolve.(bless him) We ate at the Mermaid pub a couple of times and found it to be good value for money and a friendly place to vist.
Our only disappointment was - evening meals should be served, obviously you have the kiitchen to do so and this would add to your attractions with ease.
The location was convenient, the staff was helpful.
The interior is very dated (and the bathroom too tiny), the breakfast was average and no green or peppermint tea which I thought was strange. I read that they are planning a refurb this autumn which hopefully will benefit the place greatly.
