Helpful and welcoming staff and lovely setting and deer in park
No prices on dinner menu and rotting window in our annexe room
The location, the period features, the excellent dining room.
Could do with a refurb, renew carpets and bathrooms.
The views. The staff. The location. The historical feel to the hotel compared to more modern motel equivalents, very "British"
The leak in our room which could have been disastrous for my laptop & work bag if it had been the morning before when my bag would have been in the way. The leak had obviously happened before too
The only thing we liked on this hotel was its location.
Friendly and attentive staff & excellent service and food. Spacious & airy room with beautiful view across fields. We know this area well - this was a special break away for a special occasion and our particular requests were fulfilled with charm and efficiency. The hotel has a very friendly & relaxed atmosphere- accommodating children, dogs and business groups equally.
Didn't expect Premier Rooms to be in the Annex so that could be made clear on the web-site but compensated for by having beautiful view. Furniture a little scuffed around the edges.
Location and breakfast
There was no lift and this hotel would not be suitable for anyone who finds it difficult to climb the stairs.
Location was good. Breakfast was lovely. Piping hot. Staff were very pleasant.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting, good location nice and quiet. Great for walking and cycling. Nice menu and the food was good. Rooms are tired and could use a little TLC but saying that were clean and well equipped.
Reception staff could have been slightly more welcoming on arrival. Hotel has 2 different menu's which created confusion and staff did not appear to be certain of how this worked either.
Very Dog Friendly Food Good Staff helpful & friendly Comfortable Lounge Relaxed ambience No TV in the lounge Dining Room very pleasant also Conservatory
Bedroom very small Poor lighting Room tired White Bedding No biscuits Hotel looks tired Needs new carpets etc Could not visit the stables Laurel Hedges cut down but not cleared away. Looked unkempt
The friendliness of all the staff they were always willing to help. The size of the room. You would need to pay more for the size in other hotels. The view ( Deer every morning) The quality of the breakfast and evening meals.
No remote for the TV. Kettle not working properly we had to hold it down until it boiled
Friendly staff, good food, great location. Looks great from the outside and the interior has some lovely features. Great view of the deer park from window. Nice venue for a couple of days, but not longer.
Tired furnishings and decoration. Desperately needs a good interior designer who knows something about the period. This could be a great hotel with some money spent on it.
Hard to fault anything particularly. Excellent food and friendly, efficient courteous staff
Small gripe, the rooms in the main hall have some sort of water pressure device that is quite noisy when water is running from the taps in the bathroom.......didn't spoil the stay at all but was notable at night particularly.
A good place to stay for visiting the area. Easy access for all attractions.
Although clean and tidy a coat of paint would work wonders.
The location - countryside feel but walking distance to a village. The room was huge, with patio doors onto gardens. I appreciate that they accept dogs.
The staff were generally under par. The breakfast waiter was particularly unpleasant and bad at his job. Lots of little niggles like the patio doors sticking, no latch or soft closer on the door. It generally was not worth the £125 I paid for one night there
Location, character, quietness, food
Uncomfortable bed, rather slow breakfast service
Location Pleasant lounge, dining room breakfasts easy parking
cost of drinks evening meal expensive general decor needs updating (had a large stain on the bedroom wall)
THE STAFF WERE VERY GOOD. FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND THE GROUNDS ARE LOVELY
BED WAS SO HARD THAT IT HURT YOUR HIPS IF YOU TURNED OVER. ROOM A BIT BASIC AND SOME OF THE HOTEL A BIT TIERD
we loved everything, so warm and welcoming. The room had the most fantastic view.
-The view was wondeful -Grazing deer beautiful -Architecture of the hotel outside -Location in village
-Some reception staff unhelpful and lacked enthusiasm or welcome -Interior very dated and in need of modernisation, as looks tired and unkempt -Room very dirty (mouldy curtains, ripped wallpaper, damp patches, rust in bathroom, dusty headboard, stained carpet, dirty surfaces) to the extent we had to clean room ourselves -Shower temperature and pressure unreliable -Hotel lacked vegetarian options -Vibe in general wasn't welcoming or comfortable
Beautiful setting. Very peaceful
Had a very, very long wait for our cooked breakfast. Wouldn't have minded so much if we had been brought a pot of tea soon after we arrived but that only arrived with the cooked breakfast.
Location, food, cleanliness, service, friendliness, comfort, welcome all excellent
Looking very "tired" in places. Curtains tatty, in need of redecoration, carpets worn, although we were informed that refurbishment is due soon. Would have like to have seen cloths on dinner tables. Our room obviously had had some parts renewed. But it wouldn't stop us coming again.
Brilliant location within walking distance to Burley village. The Bedroom we had overlooked the Deer park which was something special to wake up to. The restaurant was very nice atmosphere and food. You can enjoy the weekend without using the car by hiring bikes in the village or riding. The staff were all helpful friendly and available if you needed anything.
building outside, loby, bar, restaurant, large room and bathroom, coffee and thea tray ...
scruffy carpeting, missing the biscuits, lick of paint
Staff were good especially the new Assistant manager who was most helpful
The whole place looks old and tired with threadbare carpets and rooms that had seen better days. The evening meal was appalling.
