Location and good food
It was warm and cosy
The third bed in the room plus all the curtains didn't close properly so lights from outside were streaming across the room all through the night!
Only thing to like was the location
Staff badly trained, gave false information regarding facilities, as we were told no room service available, only to be told the day we left this should not have been the case ! Room was not clean and furniture in poor condition, desk serving as dressing table not put together properly, settee was shredded on the arms and carpets were stained and dirty charged £75 extra claiming we had smoked in the room and told we had to pay this and take it up with the manager by phone as he was not available the day we checked out ! Would never use again as felt completely ripped off.
Good food; really comfortable bed; friendly staff; good location; cleanliness of room and hotel in general
No lift to the second floor, and we were not asked if we needed assistance with our luggage. (Both OAP). Noisy macerator in the bathroom. Only 2 beers on tap in the bar.
The food is amazing, we had the three course dinner, and would definitely recommend it, and the breakfast the next day was really well cooked. The hotel is beautiful, and is great for a couple to enjoy a couple of days at a weekend. The location is great, especially if you like horses, as it shares a driveway with an equestrian centre.
There was nothing we didn't enjoy at the hotel.
The service was amazing I felt thoroughly spoilt and would go back again
The evening meal was slightly cold
quiet location, lovely quaint hotel, polite and helpful staff , good breakfast, good evening meal
paper peeling off the walls in room, sound from neighbouring room, (minor points only)
Lovely building and location
location breakfast very good helpful staff
room in need of re-furb bed very hard
The lovely surroundings and character of the place.
The uncomfortable bed!
The breakfast was nice, the location fantastic
The room was dated, window frames rotten, mould on the wallpaper, abig rip on the arm of the sofa and large bits of broken glass down the back of the sofa which my partner sat on.The bed was hard, the carpet stained in various places, kettle didn't work.
It was our wedding anniversary and they gave us room 52 at no extra charge and as usual all was well. Excellent breakfast and very good value dinner.
Friendly staff, fantastic breakfast. Beautiful surroundings.
Rooms décor tired with worn carpets in places.
Public rooms lovely
Bed room very very tired. Mattress very uncomfortable
Great location. Friendly staff. Breakfast and Dinner excellent. Plenty of choice for both and great value. Will definitely Visit again soon.
The countryside around the hotel
The staff were fantastic. The log fires and warm cosy dining room and lounge The building itself - lots of character
There was nothing I didn't like. The bedrooms were to me like a pair of comfy slippers - slightly frayed round the edges - but all the more comfortable for it! The bedroom was of a 70's decor - which might not suit all, but didn't bother us as it was very clean and warm.
Everything rooms could do with re decor but that was part of the charm of an old place
Warm welcoming staff very peaceful location good service and rooms were very large with excellent facilities very warm hotel and good food will be going back in the spring with all my family good disabled facilities we had a lovely stay would recommend this hotel its within walking distance of two very good pubs with good food menus also in walking distance of the cycle hire shop an excellent trip we will return in the new year .
Lovely hotel, friendly staff great location, beautiful building and clean rooms. Great value for money and one of the best breakfasts I've ever had!
The building itself is just delightful and then the beautiful views from the hotel are uplifting. The staff were very pleasant and a good breakfast was served. All very good value for money.
Not a lot
Poorly decorated. Bathroom a disgrace - shower was rubbish, but at least ours worked! Receptionist needs some training - mainly in being a receptionist, but also a human being able to communicate! Very poor given the price - needs a major overhaul.
Situated in a prime spot in the new forest and hotel in its own grounds with lovely views
