We liked the setting and the food.

The room had not been cleaned for us. I had to clean the toilet.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant

I felt bmh was a little dated, and I state this given the potential of this manor house. The owners/proprietors had done well enough, in a good way, but just a little extra ambition, such as painting the dated 80's varnished doors white, would have uplifted much of the space. I don't mean to criticise for the sake of it, but this would seem to me a really obvious, easy and inexpensive exercise. Generally clean, just felt as though it needed a little uplift and/or attention to presentation, could make a big difference.

Having to pay as you go

Wasnt aware of my booking when arrived. Only had 2 small towels in room for 4 people. No staff around to be greeted by.

Hotel deserted had to chap door to get someone's attention to get in. Cold everywhere in hotel!!!! May have been good in its day that's what we hear possibly needs taken over and updated and heated!

Bedroom Was freezing,No radiator on when we arrived..Took most ov the night to heat up..Bed wasn't very comfortable...

Great hotel for the money, comfy bed, excellent food and friendly staf wit lovely surroundings, all in all a great plce to go.

The surrounding countryside. the hotel public areas , the food. the bedroom. Most of the staff.We got a good deal at £40 for two with breakfast. But I wouldn't pay the full price.

The bathroom ie the grouting round the bath and shower screen. Quite a few areas throughout the hotel were a bit shabby. I've been to the hotel lots but this is the first I have stayed overnight. Breakfast menu said porridge and fruit segments but there was none on the table.

We were attending a friends birthday party @ the venue.We chose to stay to save driving home after the party & we were very pleased with the quality of our accommodation,terrific value for money.

Noisy,rowdy guests(one group) kept us awake fighting outside the hotel and we had to walk through broken glass and bottles when leaving which they had left outside the front door.

Staff were very nice

Room smelled if damp. Walls were paper thin. Couldnt close window so spent entire night awake due to the traffic. Shower was rubbish.

on booking we requested early check in as we were going to a wedding at another hotel near by.Check in was at two same time as the wedding was due to start, on arrival no effort had been made to accomadate this request even though the hotel was not busy(think we were only ones staying that night) the room we were given had a kettle but no cups,coffee or tea

Run down rooms / decor room badly prepared packed for wedding - no respite for other guests noisy rooms and function suite staff pleasant but inexperienced

Firstly on arrival there was no sigh of any staff and after 10mins of knocking on doors and calling out someone finally did turn up. The fact that we returned back to the hotel at 10:15pm to find the front door locked with a piece of paper selotaped to the door saying 'ring this number for assistance'. The bar was closed with the shutters down and no heating on in our room. However, once staff did turn up they were relatively friendly and helpful if a little unkempt. All said this is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for.

Tiny bath, shower not working. Room above bar - wedding reception and disco very noisy into late night. Not good breakfast service.

Lacking shelf,robe hook , towell rails and toilet brush in the bathroom. Entry door sticks. Fire doors need freeing up. No phone in room with which to contact reception. Lacks internet

Nice quiet country location, plenty of on site parking. Friendly staff. Lovely breakfast. Nice bar and spacious bedrooms all warm and spotlessly clean.

Promised a romantic retreat but it was anything but!!! We weren't informed that there was a 30th birthday party booked for the same night even though i advised them it was my girlfriends birthday and we wanted a quiet romantic break. The room was horrible and very dated and unclean, holes in the wall and stains in the bath and toilet. The walls were all marked and scratched and sheets and duvet were horrible!.

Location was beautiful and the food was good.

Lack of staff when needed. A bell on reception would help. No offer of help with luggage and no lift available. I am disabled. We were locked out of the hotel on the first night and had to knock up the staff at 10:25pm. No toilet roll in bathroom when we first arrived.
