It had been 13 years since we last visited the Burn How hotel (having our lives brightened by a boxer dog called Georgie in the intervening years, sadly she has since passed away) We had stayed at the hotel on several occasions before and wondered if it would still have that wow factor we remembered as you usually find that nothing is for ever! To our amazement it was just as we remembered, it was as if we were in a time warp, our stay was equally as enjoyable as it had been all those years ago, and the food was excellent. Hope to return again soon.

It was in a good location and reasonably good value for money. The staff were helpful and friendly. This is not a complaint but an observation that the family rooms could shortly bnefit from a makeover.

Elegant, charming & peaceful, great location just 5 mins walk from Lake Windermere & shops. The food was superb, would definitely return. Sqweeky floorboards need fixing - we were in top floor rooms but it could be annoying for those below?

The food served in the dining room was first class and staff were attentive and pleasant. The room was very disappointing and in need of refurbishment - classed as a superior room and charged at £160 pn, definitely not value for money. The shower water pressure was abysmal. I would not stay here again.

Pleasant and very helpful staff. Neat and clean room, it was lovely and warm especially as it was in December we stayed. The grounds must be lovely in the summer. We would definitely stopped at the Burn How again, and it was so near to the town centre about 5 minutes.

The food quality at the hotel's restaurant was superb. The hotel was well-located at Bowness-on-Windermere. The hotel lounge was very comfortable and relaxing, with lovely views over the gardens. The staff encouraged guests to use the room and I enjoyed sitting there after breakfast and the wonderful evening meal I had on my first night. My room was not in the main part of the hotel. I felt that the rooms in the main part of the hotel were more comfortable. The standard of the furnishings of my room, in my opinion put the room in the £50/night price bracket, not in the £70/night price bracket. The room needed a little updating. What redeemed the accommodation was: i) the good selection of teas/coffees in the room; ii) the ironing board in the room; iii) the bed, which was comfortable. And the staff were very responsive. I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The main part of the hotel was comfortable and tasteful. The breakfast was excellent. I didn't like the chalet accommodation which was separate from the main hotel building. Although the interior was clean with good bed linen and bathroom facilities, the "garden room" itself was very makeshift and pre-fabricated. There was an overwhelming musty smell which assailed you when you walked through the door.

“The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive. It was clean and had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The swimming pool and changing rooms were very clean and spa-like. We were staying as we were at a wedding nearby and only wished we could of spent more time there. All the staff from reception to bar staff were very friendly and nothing was too much, in fact I cant remember the last time we have experienced good customer service. I will definately be back later in the year for a spa break. ” L, Billingham |
