We stayed only for 2 nights, main reason we chose it was because it is a Dog froendly hotel and we were travelling with our puppy. as we arrived we were surprised by the location ...only a few steps from the Lake and city restaurants etc... when we booked the only room available on the website was a twin room, as soon as we arrived they upgraded us to a double room with balcony and at no extra costs! good parking available , very clean Hotel and very friendly staff.excellent choice! we would definetely recomend and stay there again.

First thing first to highlight. The person at reception when we arrived was an excellent experience to have after a long drive with children. He was just the kind of person I would love to deal with as a customer and that too in a scenario when the market has gone so complex that what you advertise and how to treat the customers in reality. He was helpful, pleasant and excellent to deal with

The location of this hotel was excellent set in Bowness on Windemere. It was a 5min walk to the piers and village centre. It is also a great location for hopping on and off the various ferries that cruise up and down the lake. Accomodation was good, although maybe slightly overpriced. Breakfast was one of the best we have had in a hotel and we also booked in for a 3-course evening meal, agian can't fault that either. Maybe could do with some external re-decor. We visited Windemere and Ambleside and defiinately preferred our location for the facilities nearby. Would certainly consider staying again as probably one of the better hotels in the area. We had hoped to make more use of the attached separate leisure facility which is free to residents to use as well as locals, these included pool, snooker, gym facilities. Found out that they had decided to remove the bar facility where the pool table and full size snooker tables were, unless it is a bank holiday, sign of the times I guess. Pool was fine though, gym is small and very basic. Unfortunately this was not advised to ourselves or indeed to some of the locals who were a bit bemused by this and none too happy. No fridge in the room so we couldn't keep our aniversary champagne cool in, good job it was cold outside when we stayed as we left it on the balcony instead :)

It was lovely and quiet but only 5 mins from Bowness centre. We liked having a table and 2 chairs in the room and there were also lots of areas around the hotel to sit and relax. We reported a faulty bedside light and it was repaired the same day.

Its has it all for a relaxing break with the spa and pool facilities, Its location in the heart of the lakes and within easy access of the town of bowness with all its facilities and alternative facilities, eg cafe , bars ,restaurants, shops etc. Only a minor issue is the beds are to soft for our liking.

We had relatives staying in the apartments near the hotel and we were recommended by them to try the hotel. They had never been for a meal but felt the hotel would meet with our requirements. It certainly came beyond our expectations. They joined us for dinner on our second evening. We felt the staff, food, surroundings, and the outlook were perfect for us.They have been to the apartments prior to this visit and have always loved it.They will be eating again in the hotel when they return. We hope to return there to meet them and trust we can go back to the hotel .the room was very spacious. We so much enjoyed our visit. We found it a bit difficult finding the hotel by the directions on the computer. Perhaps the instructions could be a bit more clear.

We first stayed in 1994 and liked it then, rooms are still clean and comfy, good showers. I like the lay out of the bar/restaurant area. The pool, whilst the area is clean, doesn't seem half as big as it did 16 years ago. Not a swimmers' pool and so should be warmer. Not a complaint because I can't think of any.
