Hotel facilities downstairs good .Breakfasts good .
Car park used as a builders yard. Not being told of renovation works .Room not being cleaned. Heating not working .Door lock not working .No reduction to compensate.
Location excellent, was easy to walk into bowness. Room well laid out and comfortable. The hotel is undergoing quite a bit of work. Guests were asked for improvement recommendations.
Minor comments on decor in bathroom likely to be addressed with the redecoration already underway.
This was a lovely break for my birthday, the food was excellent, (compliments to the chef for the wonderful food).
Staff very helpfull. Food excellent in the hotel. Clean and comfortable room.
bit noisy, perhaps should not have booked half term week.
The locality of the hotel was really good. Just a 5 minute walk from the village. The room had a good view were you could see onto the lake. Breakfast staff were friendly and helpful.
We arrived into a construction site with a jcb digger blocking the main entrance. We were not informed of the renovation taking place and when we checked in there were no apologies. We stayed in room 132, which turned out to be the closest room to all the construction work, which could be heard during the day. The room was generally clean, however there were coffee splash marks on the wall. Also there was mould and cobwebs above the shower.
Breakfast and hotel ambience.
Bathroom very small. Staff looked miserable but where efficient. No ramp at entrance for disabled or wheeling luggage.
Room was ok. Breakfast ok. Proximity everything fab.
.leisure side pathetic..pool ok but gym was a joke..how they dare say they got a gym was a total stretch of the imagination. It should be stated that it is well below standards expected. And as it was an aspect of the weekend we really looked gorward too it was a big disappointment. But being asked for payment upfront ridiculous..and definitely took the biscuit. We have stayed in many hotels and this is the first time we were ever asked for payment on arrival.
The on-site leisure facilities. Good breakfast menu
I e-mailed the hotel to let them know that we had spent our Honeymoon at the Burnside and were returning on our 50th anniversary, this was ignored and all we got was marketing e-mails. Not the way to treat customers.
Peculiar smell in the hotel and in particular the room we stayed in. Glad it's having a refurbishment
Sitting by the roaring fireplace in the sitting room was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The family room 228 great size room comfy overlooked leisure, not too bad. missed dinner, so appreciated table to sit at in room. gardens very nice to walk round. quite central location
looking forward to pool/Jacuzzi but pool looked far too small and Jacuzzi not working on day we wanted to use it. Pool would be overcrowded as not just residents using - we decided not to bother. Was looking forward to relaxing in lounge area instead, but 4 dogs in at once having been outside walking and instantly room smelt really bad of dog odour. Do they have to be allowed in main lounge areas?
The Hotel was overall a excellent place to stay close to all amenities
We love staying at burnside , the staff are just fantastic , johnathan and Paula and all the waiting on staff are so good at their jobs , it really feels like they love working at burnside. The food is so lovely , top quality breakfast , and as an ex airhostess I've breakfasted from Hong Kong to Dubai , and this truly is very well thought through and cooked. The rooms and hotel are so clean , it's a credit to the cleaners ,the room was made up between nights like a new room. The pool is super warm and clean and the kids love it , I like the relaxed atmosphere and the fact it's not like a stuck up spa, keep it like that , it's a rare thing.they provide towels a hair dryer and bags for wet clothes, it's very well thought through again ! Great job! The style and decor of the hotel is good quality and feels grand for the money . The location is great , near shops and piers, we had a view of the hills which made getting up a joy . I can honestly say , this hotel and staff have got it right , and it looks like some improvements are happening so it will be even better. Super job! Can't wait for next trip.
Only one tiny tiny thing , the mushrooms would be lovely sliced and fried in butter with salt and pepper , but that's my taste . Nothing else at all .
The location, staff were friendly, the bar was very nice, and late night entertainment.
The room had damp on one wall going up to the ceiling, which was covered in mould it was horrible. The mirror hadn't been cleaned in the bathroom as it had drawings on from previous visitors which makes you wonder what else may not have been cleaned. The cost of the room did not reflect on the type of hotel, I've paid less in a same star hotel that was much better well presented and included breakfast. If you are planning to have breakfast go into the village where you will find it half the price. £24 for breakfast for two people is ridiculous, it is all you can eat style, but this is not for everyone; there should be other options.
Room was great..staff went the extra mile...breakfast was good but the staff made it excellent..I've been staying in the lakes for 30 years..best all round hotel..
Sauna was not hot because of a broken door..fix it please.Internet was down for the duration of stay but I believe it was service provider
Friendly responsive staff and good size room. Good location. Nice pool.
Hotel is being refurbished and is tired in places with some worn carpets. Wifi was to weak in our room but they sorted that on day 3 of our 4 days there.
Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Dinner good. Room lovely. Location just far enough away from the busy centre.
The cocktails at the bar
Location was excellent, everything was nearby. Hotel it's self was very good but a bit old fashioned for us, for the price tho can't really complain. Overall very good but would try something a bit more modern next time
Felt like we had to speak in whispers. Also felt like it was for over 70's only going by all the guests we saw, Nothing wrong with that but when you wanted a good drink in the bar we were probably frowned upon lol.
The hotel location was brilliant 5mins from eveeything..the lesuire facillities were excellent! The comfort of the beds was excellent! Would re visit again!
The pillows on the bed was a little hard but nothing you couldnt deal with for the length of stay! Also i had cobwebs in my room around the lights and in the corners of the room and from the curtains and also the tv stand was really dusty!! But other then that was great!
Size of the room (103) and the view
The bathroom had not been cleaned. Hairs & toothpaste all over the sink. They offered to clean it whilst we were out but upon returning had not done it. We moved to a new room which was also not clean, similar too above. The hot buffet breakfast was dreadful. Staff did not seem to care. We would not use this hotel again and would also think twice about using Best Western.
Welcoming and helpful staff. Comfortable room and facilities. Nearby to town.
Not being warned about renovation works. Having a noisy group return to nearby rooms at 02.00 with no member of staff walking to check for noise levels.
We only had an overnight stay, however we will be back as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Good location, pleasant staff, excellent free WiFi.
Lack of flexibility in restaurant, and painfully slow service.
We have been coming to The Burnside for the last 13 years and have found it to be first rate in every way, from location to amenities. The staff could not be more helpful. Juudith Staffordshire Moorlands
