Wonderful,
Score from 76 reviews
“ Luxurious. Every thing about Burswood has been well thought out. The quality of the B&B is outstanding - robes and slippers, even fresh milk and bottled water in the small fridge, excellent facilities throughout. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is remarkable from cereal , a huge rang of fresh fruits to whatever cooked breakfast you could wish for. ”

George the owner is the perfect host and the accommodation is to match. Slightly more costly than the average B & B ...but this is no average place... it is definatley first class in every respect. Stephen from Worksop.

Hospitality was outstanding. George the owner could not do enough to make our stay better. Without doubt the best guest house in York. Nothing.

Both our rooms were co-ordinated in finest fashion and tastefully themed. spotlessly clean with splendid toiletries and excellent comfort. The breakfasts were clearly a speciality, personally cooked by George himself who was a perfect host throughout our stay. Situated a brisk 20 minute walk from the City centre (past a nice pub with good refreshment), or a 5 minute bus ride this is clearly a guest house to recommend. Nothing

Clean comfortable room with good facilities. Touches such as fresh milk, water and chocolates nice idea. Location a little bit further from centre of York then we were led to believe. Parking fairly tight.

Friendly owner and a nice, comfortable homely feel without the lack of privacy you often get in guest houses. There was fresh milk in the fridge! Beds very comfortable and a nice large bathroom (shower only). The location - seems far from the centre on paper. We walked in to town the first day and it was about 15-20 minutes which set us up for lunch. 5-10 minutes by taxi, which costs around £6 to the station. Only criticism would be the price which is the same as hotels - but having said that, I had to move to a "proper" hotel the next evening for work, charging the same price, for an awful, impersonal room, thin walls and noisy plumbing. (And, given this is York and we were last minute travellers, I suspect the price was what the market could bear). So not good for those looking for an inexpensive break but for those wanting far better value than chain hotels, this was great. I don't think I disliked anything. It wasn't our first choice but I'm glad it's the one we went for.

Staff (George) was very friendly. Rooms very clean. Availability of car parking. Breakfast area very nice and breakfast very good. Low ceiling in loft rooms (hit my head a couple of times!). Kitchen smell in my room. Only one person as a staff member, so if unavailable no body to help you. You need to drive or take the bus to go to city centre.

In short everything. The room was pleasantly decorated, very clean, with free wi-fi, complimentary tea, coffer and biscuits. The TV was a decent size with all the free-view channels. The bathroom was really clean with a nice suite and the shower was good. The double bed was big and really comfortable and all the little extras were there if needed. Whatever you do make sure you have the breakfast. As a fruit lover, the fresh fruit is fantastic and we didn't eat again until mid afternoon it was that filling. Would definitely recommend the Burswood.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Burswood, George & Maureen were lovely, very friendly but professional. During our stay they left the guest house in the hands of Louise & Roy who took over beautifully! Would highly recommend this establishment!! It was superb!!

High quality B&B that offered luxury accommodation with friendly staff and impressive attention to detail i.e. milk in the ensuite fridge, chocolates in the hallway etc. Only minor gripe would be the sloping roof in the upstairs rooms can be a bit restrictive.

Attentive & friendly hosts, excellent breakfast and quality accommodation which is in a location handy for bus routes, so able to leave car at the accommodation and catch bus into city therefor avoiding the hassle of finding expensive city centre car parking. We used it as a base to travel further afield and found it to be ideally situated for access to routes into and out of York. It is also situated not far from a very good Pub/restaurant which we used for a couple of evening meals.

Very friendly owners who went out of their way to make stay pleasant and comfortable. Excellent breakfast freshly prepared with good choice. Well appointed room overlooking garden. Near good pub for lunch/dinner. Useful position for exploring surrounding areas.Owners live in nearby apartment. Bus needed to go into York. Three separate keys needed to pass from front door to room.
