Score from 1716 reviews Very good
Nothing was to much trouble the room was excellent and the cleanist i have ever had the pleasure to stay in. Booking to go back again in Nov this year with my daughter and her partner
Nothing to dislike
From the minute I walked in I was impressed, the cleanliness is outstanding and Milka and her colleague are lovely friendly people always smiling, nothing was too much trouble for them, which is great. I've stayed in too many places where the staff are downright rude and miserable. Our room was spacious and bright, there was traffic noise but we couldn't expect any less being on a busy road. We could walk into York and the pub round the corner was fantastic serving great meals. I just can't wait to go back again thank you Milka xx
Absolutely nothing couldn't fault a thing
Very friendly staff, very clean and comfortable, lovely breakfast. Tea/coffee & biscuits replenished daily. Would definitely return if we decide to stay in York again.
Just a couple of things could be improved. Firstly the hot water seemed to be only "hot" first thing in the morning, it was only warm by evening. Also the Wi-fi kept dropping out.
great spot for the races. lovely b&b friendly staff. nice clean rooms brilliant breakfast. will visit again thank you.
nothing to dislike
Staff, Milka & Amber are great helpful. Beautiful room, clean & comfy. Quality & choice of breakfast well above usual standard. Would visit again.
A fair way out of town but bus every ten minutes or so outside the door.
Position, staff (Milka was great), breakfast (selection better than most 3/4 star hotels).
Although well presented it was a little bit dated.
Clean and comfortable, quality furnishings, home away from home - pretty much perfect!
We had a charming and friendly welcome from George and Maureen. The upstairs rooms were very comfortable with everything you might need - fridge, iron, hairdryer, bottled water etc - and the breakfasts made for a good start to the day. Burswood is on the main road into York but the double glazing keeps the room quiet. The bus stop means the city centre is handy without taking the car.
The eaves upstairs means there is some bending required to reach parts of the room.
Great location for York (either 30 minute walk to centre or 10-min bus ride--bus stop 2-min walk from guesthouse), good breakfast with lots of options, excellent location for public transport, easy to find, free parking, tasty pub just one block away, friendly staff, welcome chocolates and biscuits with complimentary bottles of water.
Lots of spiders and webs in the room, room too cramped with too many odds and ends/unnecessary furniture, glasses at breakfast smelled like a fish pond (we could not drink from them), too many rooms--run more like a small hotel than a guesthouse (felt slightly impersonal).
A great service, exellent breakfast, comfy bed.
The Staff very attentiv. Food excellent.especially the choice of fresh fruit. Rooms cleaned bedding and towels changed daily.
The road a bit noisy.
Friendly, kind, helpful, particular attention to detail not wasted on us. Loved our stay, will be back every time we visit York from now on. Thank you for an easy comfortable stay.
Kind staff Nice garden
Wifi not strong signal Small rooms Overpriced Far from city centre
Exceptionally well run and friendly. Perfectly appointed room and bath, to the standard of a fine hotel, with attention to every detail. Wonderful breakfast. Immaculately clean. The B&B is now being taken over by a new owner, Lena, who seems very nice and capable - we wish her well, and all the best to George and Maureen!
Staff very friendly and helpful.Breakfast excellent with good choices.Fridge useful with fresh milk supplied.
Nothing all was good.
Cleanliness and attention to detail
Found duvet rather heavy for summer season
We were able to leave the car on the property on the morning we checked out until lunch time while we went sightseeing in York.
Nice room Beautiful garden Wonderful couple Very very clean everywhere Good quality food, well cooked.
WiFi didn't work very well A bit expensive, when we could have stayed in a hotel in York city centre for the same price.
Lovely bedroom, friendly owners, beautiful garden, great parking, overall really nice place to stay!
This was our 2nd time at the Burswood and enjoyed it each time. George & Maureen were so friendly and we had a lovely 3 night stay. The cooked breakfast was the best I have tasted ANYWHERE, including abroad. We're already looking forward to go back next year and do it all again!!
Excellent location very close to York centre, the room was very clean and with all required mod-cons. A very comfy bed and an excellent nights sleep was had, breakfast was superb with top quality produce used. The owners were very friendly and polite which will make me return to the Burswood instead of the corporate hotel chains.
Spotlessly clean and lovely people. Good breakfast
The people who owned it were very pleasant and would do anything for you
I think it was for older people sutch as pensioners rather than me
Once met, very friendly. Good breakfast options!
