Situated in Hay-on-Wye on the Welsh/English border, 12 Market Street consists of 2 renovated apartments with a mixture of Georgian character and modern luxury.
Score from 9 reviews Wonderful
Overlooking the breath taking Wye Valley and set on 5 private acres of land, Westbrook Court provides relaxing accommodations with breakfast included.
Score from 61 reviews Wonderful
This 16th-century inn is in the beautiful Wye Valley, in the cider orchards between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye. It has free on-site parking, free Wi-Fi, a traditional bar and a modern restaurant.
Score from 260 reviews Excellent
Set in the beautiful Welsh countryside, this characteristic 16th century building has been transformed into a comfortable guesthouse, while still maintaining many of its original features, including...

Pleasant staff. Excellent breakfast. Courteous helpful proprietor.
Centre of town Nice gym and pool Bar food and breakfast good
Staff very polite and helpful Fabulous food Great facilities
Heating off during the daytime, coming back on at 6.00pm Hot water from basin tap barely luke warm during the daytime.
Warm welcome from Harry all 6 foot 8" of him . Evening meal excellent other than rice . Bedroom clean & comfy Breakfast excellent Pool very good also . Thank you
Poor quality rice
The staff were very helpful, the food was excellent. Unfortunately we had to leave at 6am for onward travel before breakfast was available but the staff were kind enough to arrange a packed lunch for us to collect on departure.
Found mattress a bit too soft for me, otherwise no problems.
The friendly helpful staff especiaily Jack .The pool food and the lovely garden kept so well nice to heve a relaxing drink or 2 !! In
No decaffinated coffee in room or bar. Very smelly wash basins drain.
We were made to feel welcome at Burton. All staff were very helpful and polite from our intial tour of the facilities to the time we left. The Cloud 9 Spa was a fantastic addition to our time at the hotel. We had heard good things about the food and were not disappointed. We'd definitely recommend The Burton Hotel.
The location and the Health Club. Pleasant and reasonably priced bar meals.
Bed lacked size. Need to offer King or Super King sized beds. The attitude and obvious dangerous lack of training of the receptionist and cleaners. A fire exit door was locked egress was denied. The receptionist had no idea that it was a fire door, lacked the slightest interest when told and didn't know that it was identified by signage as a fire exit. When we came to leave, from a first floor room, a cleaner had left a Henry Vacuum Cleaner on the corridor, immediately at the top of the stairs which, meant we had to climb over the cable and hose to access the stairs. Extremely dangerous and reminiscent of Fawlty Towers. Spoilt our stay and convinced us that we would not, under any circumstances, stay there again.
The pool was lovely and the food was good
The rooms were noisy until the bar closed and the floors were very uneven it cased problems for me, being short, getting out of a high edged bath onto a very uneven floor.
average bed/facilities no better than premier inn over priced @£96 per night
The pool and jacuzzi were great first thing in the morning. The staff were very helpful and efficient
All the staff were excellent. Friendly atmosphere and lovely food.
Lovely staff, particularly the young man who served our breakfast I dropped a piece of jewellery in the room and they called me immediately and arranged to send it to me. Location is great for beautiful countryside, the Hay Festival etc.
Decor is dated, bland and lacklustre--looks like it could use a complete rethink. They should make more of it being a really historic building and make the inside look a bit more upmarket with nice furniture and lighting--the price of the rooms creates an expectation that the surroundings will be a bit more beautiful.
Spa facilities big plus to enjoyment.
Friendly attentive staff who seemed to value your custom
Good conversion of bedrooms to modern taste. Very helpful and efficient staff - also cheerful!
Not much really, but the bar was quite rowdy.
Very willing staff, attentive and yet not pushy at all. Comfortable room with space in which to work. Over the two night stay, slept well on both occasions, so often not the case in some hotels.
Lovely staff and nice clean room with great shower! Made use of the jacuzzi, steam room and pool which made for a really good start to unwinding!
Relaxing atmosphere and excellent staff. Very good location.
A worm welcome from the Owners. The food was of a good standard. The Breakfast was the best and very local. Its central in the town. Good Car Parking.
We feel the rooms are over priced for the location. The Bar areas are more like a Pub than a Hotel. The Hotel needs a bit of TLC
The lad who booked us in was helpfull and pleasant. The room was clean and comfy. The breakfast was lovely.
Once we had been shown to our room there was very little communication between staff and us.
The staff were very welcoming and efficient. The fitness centre, which also doubles as a health club for the village, is above average for a hotel of this size. The rooms (i had room 3) were spacious, well proportioned and comfortable.
Parking is a bit iffy as there are two parking lots, one a bit further from the hotel. It would really only be an issue in rainy weather. Also like all older hotels of this type, the rooms are at different floor levels and connection is via winding corridors, but some would say that adds to the charm of the place. The elevator is of only limited help.
The gym and pool.
The uneven floors, the carpets and decor and the full english breakfast which wasn't very good.
Lovely room very clean and comfortable. Breakfast first class. Also had a bar meal which was first class. Made use of the pool, jacouzi and sauna so that was a bonus.
Health club facilities
Breakfast didn't contain an option of fresh fruit salid, and iced water.
