WIFI was slow
Stayed at Buscot with my parents and bridesmaid the night before getting married locally. A beautiful home and an incredibly warm, welcoming family. We were given tea and homemade cake, served in china, which we took in the garden. Beautiful rooms, the largest four poster bed I have ever seen, and breakfast to die for in the family dining room. Only wish I could have eaten more but for my wedding nerves.
Only slight downside for me was that the shower was over the bath rather than separate cubicle but that is personal preference. Gorgeous bath though.
Staff are very friendly. Breakfast is good.
Bedding was not made up at all during a 4 day stay.
A sense of real.hospitality
A truly top class B&B...with a superb breakfast...in a classic rural setting.
The location, the house, the calm, the large room, the garden. The hostess and her dogs.
The multitude of spider webs around the bed, the filthy carpets, the general amount of dust, the smelly bathroom, the dirty robes and half cleaned towels. Someone old spit in the unwashed basin. the fact that it advertises 'private bathroom' when it is actually shared. the general lack of cleaness. I also would remove all the dust-gathering awful false flowers (when the garden and surroundings have so many beautiful fresh ones!).Fewer things, less clutter and above all, a deep, gooooood cleaning would enlight the place.
The welcome & tea in the garden: The breakfast food was good but a pity it was at a fixed time & sometimes a bit cramped with all the guests seated around the same table & on one occasion even the owner's 4 year old daughter seated at my husband's elbow - not good!
The bathrooms are not ensuite although this is implied on the website; With 7 guests sharing 2 bathrooms there was often a wait to use the facilities & it isn't nice to have to clean the sink/bath of a strangers scum before using it. Worst of all toilets were not always flushed by others! The rooms are not serviced - we stayed for 3 nights, beds were not made, towels not refreshed & the room was generally dusty: There was no hanging space in our wardrobe - only shelves. Not acceptable. The bath robes provided did not appear to have been washed after being used by previous guests. From a comfort/cleanliness perspective we have stayed in better Travelodges at half the price. £110 a night for this standard of accommodation is excessive. When we wanted to speak to the owner, Romney, before we left she was not available & she further did not have the courtesy to respond to my Email outlining the issues we had.
Personal touch Warm welcome Good location Breakfast
Passed through for 1 night on a flying visit as we had to get to an airport nearby early the next day. The bedrooms are huge and individual and it's a pity we couldn't stay longer to explore the surrounding areas. We liked it so much we've booked a proper weekend away there in August.
Nothing. We're going back.
No private bathroom
We were made so welcome it was like home from home. Beautiful location. We sat and had tea in the garden on arrival which was lovely. Breakfast was around a big table that we shared with the other guests and that was really nice to chat to others. A bit different to the 'norm' and all very friendly. The 4 poster was very comfortable. We shared bathrooms with other guests but they we're great - lovely big baths and all spotless.
The room was in keeping with the age of the building and well appointed apart from not being en-suite (there is a wash basin). I appreciate that it is a problem proving en-suite in a listed 17th century building. Romney and staff create a relaxed atmosphere and provided an excellent breakfast each morning. Would definitely stay again.
Lovely location and the welcome cream tea.
Good position on the Thames Path and near Buscot Park and Kelmscott Manor. Welcoming place to stay.
A beautiful listed building in a stunning location. I was greeted with tea and cakes served in the guests' garden. The house is lovely and furnished with wonderful antiques. Comfortable bed, excellent breakfast, and the family feel of if all made you feel you were staying with friends. The rooms were not en-suite, but Romney explained that it was not possible to do this because it was a listed building.
The box of Thornton's chocolates by my bed. I cannot resist temptation!!
Home from home
No en-suite bathroom
I loved the personal service, extremely friendly and charismatic lady who shown us around. Beautiful grounds, and a gorgeous house and bedroom!! It is perfect for a break away from the busy life! Will be definitely going back to stay.
The Manor was in a lovely location with wonderful surroundings. Felt most welcome by the owner and staff.
Bathroom was not en-suite.
Location close to riverboats and pub meals
Lock on door didn't work Could not lock our door Someone else was using our bathroom so I couldn't have a bath No soap I either bathroom or hand basin No heating our hostess interrupted our welcome talk to look after her 4yr old and thus did not tell us. Anything about the area or how to contact her should we need to. No washers Tacky fake flowers in the room
Location and House
Tiny bath towels Not en suite bathrooms Too deep bath
Great location and very friendly owner and staff. Very relaxing and had a good communal breakfast all guests sat together around a large table. Would have preferred to have been able to choose elements of the cooked breakfast instead of 'take it or leave it'. Room was a little small but as we were the last in that was fair enough. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.
Perfect choice while on holiday with a car. Hidden treasure the village, and the very comfortable accommodation.
A very informal b&b, very old with lots of character. The house was built in the 16th century with four poster beds and wooden creaking floors. We were welcomed with tea and biscuits on the lawn all served in China cups. (Always like a china cup, tea tastes better) The owner was very friendly and couldn't do enough for the guests. Will definitely go again.
Extremely warm welcome; comfortable rooms; excellent breakfast; beautiful location
No proper shower facility
