In the historic market town of Farnham, this privately owned and managed hotel is a charming 18th-century residence, carefully modernised to provide beautiful en suite rooms.
Score from 68 reviews Good
Central location, good parking, comfortable characterful room with built-in creaking floor, space well laid out.
No lift (but staff were helpful in carrying suitcase up and down stairs).
Going to a Mercure hotel, you know you're going to get a decent standard of hotel, room, staff etc. The Mercure Farnham Bush hit the mark in this sense - good location, gorgeous interiors, great staff.
The rooms are bog standard - and quite old fashioned compared to more modern hotels e.g. small bathroom with basic shower over the bath, small double bed in a very standard room. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this - but for almost £130/night, I expected more.
Convenience to our wedding reception location, large shower, big bed
Noise from nosiy drinkers outside the bedroom on the patio until 3am, quality of breakfast, poor communication (checking in in my wedding dress with no bag - 'do you have a credit card we can place the room against?' 'erm no, but my whole family are staying here!?' however mainly enjoyment of members of wedding party (my sister had to leave and go home as her room was very dirty and never shouldve been given (poo on towel!) and reception tried to charge them half the cost!) - as a family, we spent so much, £140 a night is not cheap and you expect so much more, completely tainted what should have been a fantastic night's stay and got barely any sleep from the noise.
We stayed there the night before my Wedding and I forgot to take my tiara out of the safe! The Castle sent a taxi to the Castle straight away which really helped to calm my panic! So helpful and kind of them!
Good location in centre of Farnham, quiet at night and lovely gardens. Very good breakfast .
Car park not well signposted and difficult to locate especially as a visitor to the town. Reception staff tried to recharge us for breakfasts when they were pre-paid. Some refurbishment required in bedroom.
We had a room in the older part of the hotel and although it was a bit of a distance from reception we really liked the space and the character of the room and also the four poster bed!
There was nothing to not like
some attempt has been made to modernise. rooms are all named which is sweet. reception areas have nice decor. clean / no odd smells Hairdryer! Iron & ironing board very useful. Spacious rooms, Ok bed
shower flooded bathroom which had made it look tired, but was powerful. Pillows a bit flat. Lighting is really bad - there is a sign saying the room isn't afraid of the dark - but i think it might be afraid of the light!
large bedroom clean en suite good tv comfortable good sleep
drilling outside early morning no inclusive breakfast
There was a live band playing until after 11pm no chance of any sleep until they had finished!
Staff Breakfast Lounge areas
Pillows and duvet need replacing Would have liked a mini fridge
breakfast good wifi good
unhelpful reception staff disinterested reception any interaction was seen as a chore for them
some of the decor a bit shabby
Wonderful location within the town centre with easy access to shops. Very easy to find the hotel too. The hotel grounds were pretty and there was plenty of private parking. The rooms used during the wedding day were excellent. The food was excellent too!
Initially was given a room on the second floor in the older part of the hotel. No lift. The room itself was small and smelly. Asked at the reception for a move and was immediately relocated in the new part of the hotel next to other family staying - excellent accommodation and had a wonderful stay!
Nothing. No really, nothing. We left at 4.45am in the morning rather stay any longer and refused to pay. They didn't even seem surprised by my request for a 100% bill reduction.
Dirty, tired, threadbare, noisy, overpriced and rude staff. No hot food after 10.00pm even though the room service menu said they did. Floor boards creaked all night. Staff were rude and unhelpful to say the least. We had to walk the deserted streets of Farnham to find an almost closed Pizza take away to just get something to eat. This place is terrible.
Not great value for over £100 a night.
The position of the hotel was very convenient
The hotel was very run down and does require a refurbishment.
Chosen this Location to be quick at Gatwick Airport. Farnham itselfe is a really nice small town but worth visiting.
The staff were very helpful, and did what they could to help. They gave us 20% refund as a good will gesture.
We booked a privilege room through this website, and were booked into the correct type of room, but when we arrived several of the extras such as complementary soft drinks, newspaper, and bathrobes were not provided. Apparently it is not enough to ask for the room, you have to also ask for the privileges.
Hotel wouldnt accept payment on arrival and instead they pre authorized my bank card for the hotel cost plus £20 incase of room sevice etc.Even though i was paying in cash.on leaving we payed for the room in cash. But they took the amount out of the bank as well.POOR. If they had said this i would not have payed in cash just let them take the pre authorized amount.
Hotel was very shabby Staff were incompetent and incoherent Executive bedroom was not prepared at all with litter and food left on the floor. The carpet in Room 222 was dirty, The complementary tea tray was empty, The Kettle was dirty, The bed linen was badly creased. The corridors were not well cleaned.laundry was left in corridors and were a health and safety risk. The breakfast was cold and very badly presented and unappetising.Reception staff were hopeless in trying to enable any resolution to my complaints At this moment in time I certainly couldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Over all this Hotel was a disgrace and it would take a lot of persuading for me to ever go near it again.
There is no lift to cart your luggage to top floor . It's a real pain
Great location, pleasant setting and grounds, and good parking. Room modern. Reasonably priced breakfast if you book the day before.
Bar prices just ridiculous - £4 for 275ml 1664 for example. Common areas becoming a little tatty.
Hot room, no air conditioning, nasty pillows and the duvet was far too heavy for summer.
Room was large and unique with all the amenities we needed. Bed was comfortable and staff were helpful.
Some aspects were dated with parts of the room needing a bit of paint.
