Found that the hotel was very peaceful ,ideal for hill walking. Bit far out from Lerwick, but if traveling by car can't see a problem.

The staff, antiquity of the hotel. The food although adequate relied too heavily on stews, pasta etc. A roast of anything would have been lovely!

Busta House Hotel has a wonderful location which makes a good base for exploring the islands. Very friendly and helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Excellent range of books/maps to browse in Long Room. Bedroom was small (not their fault) and felt cramped for a week's stay but attention to detail would have helped eg. hooks on back of door to hang wet outdoor jackets, shelves in bathroom, hooks on bathroom door to hang clothes and/or towels.

Location beautiful. Staff excellent - welcoming with a refreshing lack of pretensions. Food excellent. Pre-dinner music a treat Would be difficult for access if disabled - not the fault of owners, simply a reflection of an old building not easily adapted, therefore have to be able to use stairs here

Friendly welcome, clean and spacious room, and good food. The kippers I had for breakfast were the best I have ever had! My room was virtually over the front door where those who smoke congregate. The window wouldn't quite close and so I could hear every word spoken.

The staff were really friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely room with beautiful views and a cosy feel, and the food was excellent. It was a little shabby on the outside which was not such a good first impression

Our first day in Scotland and we never experienced nicer people from staff to patrons. Our luggage didn't make it and the staff got together and brought in things for my wife to use (curling iron, raincoat, etc.). They were wonderful from start to bottom. Setting is beautiful. Historic sites and scenery abound.

This hotel is the best we have tested on mainland. It is very well located. Our room was full of charm with a nice view. We had a great dinner and breakfast was delicious with fresh fruits and smoked salmon if we pleased. We strongly recommand this adress!

The setting is right on the water -- wild, remote and isolated, yet the hotel is beautiful, sophisticated and historic. The food is fresh and the menu is updated classic Scottish with a concentration on local ingredients and fresh caught fish. You can enjoy cocktails and live harp music in the "Long Room" before dinner. The rooms overlook the water and green fields of grazing sheep. You can jog for miles without seeing a car or another person, only stony green hillsides, rabbits, sheep and crofter house ruins. The staff is gentle and kind, yet efficient and professional. The Manager, Grant, on very short notice (I asked him about the possibility the night before) set us up with a deep sea fishing day with Captain Jim Dixon that our ten year old son will never forget. The rate is more than reasonable and the hotel is a fantastic value. We are looking forward to staying at Busta House again, as soon as we can manage it!

The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. The location is superb and must be one of the best on Shetland aligned with the history of the building. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the small side and what I would term tired, with wallpaper peeling off in various places and a sash window that was very difficult to open and close. The hotel is very popular with local people and if you don't book a table for and evening meal there may not be one available if it is a busy night. This was not mentioned when we arrived. The grounds to the hotel need a lot of attention and a visit from a professional gardener would be beneficial but basics such as getting rid of rotting ironwork and removal of grass and weeds from pathways would help.

Busta house is in an outstanding location-- the gardens are lovely -- nothing very fancy or formal but they suit the style and age of the building -the staff are always friendly and helpful and as a lesbian couple we are very comfortable staying at the hotel--- its our treat after several days camping! The food is great but it would be good to have more choice for vegetarians particularly at breakfast time. The room fitted the style of the house and we liked the way it was decorated (Fair Isle) --however there was one or two small factors that let it down the toilet seat didn't fit very well and it moved to one side every time it was used -- also most of the room was clean but a previous occupant had split what looked like red wine on the radiator and chair and the stains hadn't been away wiped-- nothing to stop us returning we love staying there.

Friendly and very helpful staff. Comfortable accommodation although some rooms rather on the small side. Wonderful views from the house of the harbour and gardens. The best in Shetland by far. No real criticisms although the small size of some of the bedrooms may be a bit restricting for some travellers.
