Appeared to have been a major problem with hot water!!
staff very pleasant and friendly, entertainment and bar good, hotel had character, breakfast good, didn't eat evening meal as we went out.
room too small but very clean we were top floor and no lift available had to climb stairs with luggage.
The friendly and helpful staff Comfortable rooms Nicely decorated and attractive old hotel The restaurant (good food, great value and kids eat free!)
The main road was a little noisy
Just 10 mins walk to the sea front. Breakfast was good, dinner was good too.
A lot of the time it felt like most of the staff had only just started working there and that no-one really knew what they were doing. We had to repeat ourselves a lot. And there was confusion whether we had half board dinner included, which they should have know without having to ask other members of staff. It was bemusing at times. But we only stayed for two nights. I think the staff need more training.
Location was good, parking easy, staff are nice, bed was comfy
Shabby furniture, still needs a lot of work to get it up to a good standard
Everything. Room. Cleanliness . Food, value for money and tasty. Staff absolutely excellent. Location bang on for everywhere you want to go in Torquay, and quiet even though it is on a busy road. Building fabulous. Couldn't find a fault. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends. All at a reasonable price.
Nothing. Loved it all.
Staff friendly and helpful, room clean and tidy, good facilities and a great location.
Food was average at best. For me this was the part that let it down and needs to be seriously looked at!
Lovely friendly staff, excellent breakfast.
Every morning there was a delicious cooked breakfast with a choice of cereal or fruit as well, staff were friendly and brought us extra towels when we asked. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the sea front and 10 - 15 in to town.
The shower was a bit temperamental, there was three of us sharing a room and if you were last in the water would trickle out so it was easier to just get a bath.
location, good breakfast
lack of hot water
Location and breakfast both good
No hot water during our 1 night stay.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and there was plenty of choice at breakfast. Rooms were clean and spacious and had obviously just been refurbished.
Lack of hot water in mornings. Limited choice of evening menu. We stayed for 4 evenings and only minor changes were made to the menu eg different soup.
Room very clean, and check in/ check out very efficient
The biggest downside to our stay was the disorganisation of the restaurant for the buffet breakfast. The kitchen appeared to be short staffed, the food delivery to the buffet table was slow, and they ran out of pre-packed strawberry jam completely, implying management disorganisation. There was no fresh fruit which was surprising. On the plus side, when the food did arrive, it was good. They also did not have any spare lightbulbs to change the light in our room
We really enjoyed staying here. Our room was spacious, comfortable, clean, with a lovely view to the terrace and an excellent big bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great value for money!
Very nice breakfast
Comfortable, clean room with sea view, overlooking garden and park. Staff friendly and helpful. Great breakfast with loads of choice. access to room to and from car park. would definitely use again.
Wi fi connection not great but this wasn't a problem.
Clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and especially the breakfast staff. One morning when they ran out of bread they went straight out to the shop to buy some more so no one went without. That is excellent customer service! Our room had a great view. would definately stay there again.
it was a shame the lift wasn't working while we were there as we have a young daughter so carrying everything up was a bit of a pain.
Good hotel for welcoming dogs,
friendly Staff buffet breakfast spacious room clean modern bathroom
bar prices reminded me of the hotels I stayed in with my parents in the '80s
Made to feel very welcome my fiancée and I and our little dog as soon as we arrived at the hotel. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful during our stay and our room was spotless and you could not smell dog in our room or anywhere else in the hotel. Will definitely use hotel again and bring our dog.
Would be handy to have a dog bin located in the garden in a corner somewhere out of the way. As it was a few minutes walk to the nearest council bin. Would have been nice to have used the outdoor pool as it was a really hot weekend and it was covered up.
Lovely room an amenities, very well located for seafront, town, bars and restaurants and bus routes.
Booking stated sea view but not available on arrival as this had not been forwarded to the hotel.
Friendly service; excellent location; a very nice ambience.
We were very pleased with our stay in room #5. The room was quite spacious for 3 adults traveling together. Thanx for a delightful stay
