The staff are helpful and very friendly, gave the place a personal feel (home-from home) Really relaxed.
The bathroom plug did not fit the sink and there was dust on the bedroom shelves. The vegetarian breakfast was blighted by poor quality sausages. A real shame as the meat option are often commented on for their excellence. Vegetarians shouldn't be short-changed!
Food, location, peaceful surroundings
Shower in room 4 has a mind of its own and sprays only onto the screen making the experience not very enjoyable White wine delivered to the table was not chilled
Staff on the whole very friendly and helpful in particular food and drinks manager, except a German receptionist who I did not find as helpful. When I asked if they had skimmed milk she told me to ask another member of staff instead of checking for me. Overall a very good experience and as I said the staff were polite and pleasant, which made the stay all the better.
I found it off-putting when we entered reception wondering what we had let ourselves in for. There was some disgruntlement amongst the staff about an issue and it seemed unprofessional. I thought the reception area let down the hotel. It however was uphill from then on and we loved the room and a receptionist changed our room promptly. I thought the food was generally just about warm sometimes cold. The restaurant starter was cold and not worth the price. The hotel failed to pick up it was my birthday at the booking stage. The manager gave us a glass of champagne to cover this.
Staff are brilliant. Food delicious. Grounds are beautiful.
Bit pricey. Would expect a larger room for price.
cream tea service oversubscribed wedding event was not segregated
Staff were bright and cheerful and efficient. Service was timed just right. Restaurant food was excellent.
internet good range of tv channels dinner and breakfast location and views balcony doors if ground floor room
pricey food but quality of food is good only bottled beers - no draught beer creaky floors and can hear upstairs guests
The bed is relaxing - it is a peaceful place to just be and enjoy the time out
we loved the quality of the bed and the bed linen , big fluffy towels and lovely bathroom accessories
Sausages were pre cooked at breakfast and were hard and cold
The spacious old historic building and the setting in the beautiful Sussex countryside
The pillows. That's because I'm used to down pillows. Hotels never have them.
Staff very friendly and organised. Our wedding anniversary was recognised and we received some treats. Gardens lovely. Very good dinner. Overall, a lovely hotel.
Crystal bar not very inviting, needs some touches to make it welcoming. Breakfast service could be improved.
Food & service @ dinner were excellent!
Double room was a bit small.
-very quiet location away from any traffic -excellent breakfast choices -very comfortable bed -room had useful fridge in the bedroom
-only one member of staff able to receive us at main reception desk (we had to wait a long time on arrival, as she was busy with a long telephone call) -absence of a swimming pool!
the restaurant food, the restaurant staff. -the sommelier and his team-. congratulations to the chef. the building and the park are gorgeous.
even I paid extra for garden view it wasn`t quite so. It was on the parking side but with some trees in front. If you stay more that one day pay and ask for have the park view because the park is splendid
Spacious room and friendly staff.
Wedding guests were served breakfast everyday in beautiful conservatory room while other hotel guests had breakfast in a small stuffy room at the back of the bar with no windows. Breakfasts were not good. No apologies for wedding guests partying until early hours of the morning. One morning we left the hotel at 5am and some guests were still going to bed. The carpets and the walls are showing the signs of a well used wedding venue. Not enough parking for hotel guests near entrance.
The restaurant, and room service.
Lack of facilities.
The main courses were I edible. The table adjacent had similar issues. At £38 for the least expensive Dinner menu this is unacceptable.
Receptionist offered to give me lift from train station - could not get a taxi from train station to hotel - perhaps in future hotel could offer a lift to visitors.
Found two handkerchiefs in "fresh" dressing gown. Perhaps laundry should check pockets of dressing gowns
Well appointed room, new, modern bathroom, excellent breakfast
Comfortable, reasonably spacious rooms; relaxed atmosphere; friendly and helpful staff; good breakfast
The country setting was quite nice. Breakfast was good (and staff there at least better than elsewhere). Air conditioning.
Frosty at reception. Took a lot of persuading to get help with the bags (despite no lift). Bartender refused to serve water after dinner (I guess she wanted an early night). Staff need better training. We are not doing them a favour staying. We are paying for it.Some of the decor was a little East European.
Staff was very good and accommodating, Yann, in particular was fantastic. Beautiful settings, excellent. Daughters is getting married at Chilston Park Hotel, hope that is as good as Buxted.
Apart from sink being blocked in the Winston Churchill suite, that's about it.
