We stayed at the hotel for a family wedding and everything was really good.
Overhead shower that couldn't be altered
Old World charm Cleanliness This visit we were in a chalet which was newish and quiet away from the weddings on both nights.
The low wall at the exit to the car park with no reflector on it. Missed breakfast sleeping late. No fridge in the room.
Real nice bar and restaurant area. Friendly staff Beautiful breakfast set up Rooms ok, good bed
Possibly an isolated issue, but shower did not drain.
Helpful (Spanish) lady at reception. Good food
Noisy wedding taking place during our stay
Location Price and menu
the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble service was excellent
The place as a whole was lovely, really liked the gardens. Husband loved the shower.
Didn't have the best sleep, mattress and pillows not the comfiest but you can't please everyone.
Room was lovely- clean, comfortable. Grounds beautiful. Dinner was scrumptious- had lamb as main course. ..absolutely fantastic! Hotel has lovely ambience.
Noisy fan outside room (201) Apart from that nothing ...would recommend to anyone!
Spacious room. Good king size bed. Roomy bathroom. Tasty and varied breakfast.
The first night stay was quiet. Once the room above us was occupied you could hear every move due to creaky floorboards and poor insulation. No a la carte menu. Washbasin in bathroom was dirty when we arrived. One day the maid omitted to make up our room and refresh the towels.
Room size, good nights sleep, clean and in good condition.
Nothing all good
The desserts, good size of the rooms, the beautiful grounds
No children's concessions for breakfast, limited children's dinner choices, had to have three courses for supper.
Would recommend very highly
The food is excellent, the staff friendly and very helpful. We have been visiting the Hotel for 11 years now and will hopefully be visiting there for many more years to come.
Beautiful estate like hotel; classic decor; good restaurant.
Good location, plenty of parking and a hotel with character.
Mattress too firm. Too small a room to be able to use a chair at the desk ( the gap between the desk and bed was very small). Low water pressure and toilet that did not contain enough water to flush properly. Odd service at dinner with the wine produced after we had eaten our starters.
Location was good, as were the surrounding grounds. The staff on the reception were pleasant. Breakfast was taken in the conservatory, which was very light and airy. The breakfast itself was surprisingly good, considering the meal we had eaten the evening before.
Having had very enjoyable stays at a sister hotel (The Pond, Glasgow) we were very disappointed. After booking in, I had to lug the cases up a 30 step, spiral staircase with threadbare carpet. There was no lift in this part of the building! Although the room was clean, there was a constant roar of the kitchen extractor fan from 7.30-10.00am and 6.00-10.00pm. This could not be shut out, as the flue from the kitchen was directly behind our bathroom, and the top of it was aimed directly at our room. What made it worse was the fact that the velux window in the bathroom was jammed open, so not only could we do nothing about the noise, but the constant burnt fat smell was both disgusting and nauseating. The first night we decided to eat in the hotel. We we're firstly asked to wait in the bar. It was like an old folk's home, with all the chairs round the edge of the room, with just 3 other couples sitting there, all whispering. I went to the bar (?) to get a drink. I was informed they do not do Guinness, but did 2 draught beers and Stella lager. I ordered a Stella, only to be told they were out of it. Having seen the pictures of the conservatory on the website, and having seen it for real all laid out, we assumed that was where we would be eating - wrong. We were shown into a huge, dark, dingy dining room. We were one of only four couples in there, and all felt so uneasy that they were all whispering. The food was certainly nothing to write home about and we couldn't wait to get out, so it was main course and out.
Milieu Restaurant Spacious rooms
A bit too far away from city centre
Room was large and the hotel was on beautiful grounds.
There on room only basis. Room was spacious, well laid out and very clean.
Staff service food
Attentive staff, great location, comfortable rooms, friendly atmosphere. A 'proper' hotel without the fancy spa and gym etc.
Evening dinner menu restricted, hardly changed over the 2 nights. Dinner was fast pace, whizzed into restaurant very soon after choice made, main course served as starter plates removed. Would have appreciated a more gentle pace over dinner.
The setting is excellent, but using public transport from here is a hassle.
Excellent staff. Very good food in the restaurant. We were able to have a lovely walk through the grounds to the river. Quiet, even though there was a wedding that afternoon/evening. Attractive hotel.
Scruffy stair carpet let the appearance down, but they may be in the process of refurbishing the hotel.
Location and gardens beautiful. Food lovely.
As part of the wedding party staying in the hotel we paid a lot more for our room than the rest of the party. Reception staff were completely inflexible when asked if there was any room for manoeuvre on the price.
Quite a surprise! "Country house" luxury look and feel. Quality everywhere . Excellent restaurant. Generous sized room and definitely the best hot water mixer I have ever seen!
