Set within in its own attractive gardens, this modern 3-star hotel is ideally located on the outskirts of Stornoway, just across the road from the golf course leading onto historic Lews Castle grounds.

Rightly known as 'Stornoway's finest hotel', the Cabarfeidh (pronounced cab-ar-fay) provides a relaxing base for both business travelers and tourists. It is also bookable for functions or meals in the Solas Restaurant.

There is a diverse range of shops, serving local and tourist needs. Visitor attractions include an excellent museum of local history, the Lewis Loom Centre where you can learn about the history of Harris Tweed and the delightful grounds of Lews Castle.

What matters so much more than bricks and mortar, though, is the warmth of the welcome you'll receive, for the Hebrides has a great tradition of hospitality.

Solas Restaurant enjoys a well-deserved reputation for first-class Scottish and modern cuisine. Every meal is individually prepared to the highest of standards from the freshest of local produce and the seafood is drawn straight from local waters.

A recent renovation program has provided 40 bedrooms of very comfortable standard, quality fabrics, pleasant decor and modern lighting.

Area information

Within a mile of Stornoway's town and harbor areas, the Cabarfeidh is 3.3 miles from the airport and 1.5 miles from the Calmac ferry terminal.

Stornoway is the main point of entry to the Outer Hebrides, offering two or three daily ferry sailings from Ullapool (limited Sunday services) and a modern airport with around a dozen flights daily (limited Sunday services).

Travel a few miles in any direction from Stornoway and you’ll find the treasures of Lewis.

Close to the lighthouses at Tiumpan Head or the Butt of Lewis, you can view seabird colonies and migrating birds on passage - maybe even whales or dolphins.

I didnt like the fact that the menu throughout the week stayed the same in the restauarant and there was nto a choice for vegetarians. There was one meal and thats it. I would have liked a pasta dish of somne sort that would atleast change the menu slightly. I had to dine out every night due to this. We were checking out at 7am to catch ferry - rough seas and the night porter was so nice and went and got me some sea sickness tablets which I really appreciated. Breakfast was great. We also had dinner on our first night - while the food was presented really well we did not enjoy it and on second night made a point of going elsewhere for dinner.
