Housed within a 19th century building, steeped in character and history, this small famil-run hotel is ideally situated just 500 metres away from Newmarket’s bustling High Street.

In 1895, a gentleman of a rather dubious nature, known as Gordon Chetwynd, sold what was known then as Rutland Cottage to the 5th Earl of Cadogan. The Earl numbered amongst his closest friends Edward, Prince of Wales, later to become King Edward VII. Rumour has it that the king himself became a frequent visitor to the hotel and entertained the beautiful Lilly Langtry here. Secret passages are said to exist between Cadogan Hotel and the king's quarters at Palace House.

Since taking over the hotel in October 2002, Kevin and Julie Reed have undertaken a continual improvement programme. The rooms, bar and restaurant have now been upgraded, with further improvements planned to help the Cadogan enhance its AA 3-star small hotel award.

Nora Mature couple dublin, Ireland May 19, 2008	the owner was quite helpful. we booked twin rooms and were quite surprised to find that one of the beds was a fold up bed. we were unable to have showers as as the water was either cold or scalding. we did mention this when paying but didnt get a reduction.	6.5
