Location great. Shower really good. View was fantastic. Breakfast croissant best I have ever had and all the staff including the owner were very helpful and charming.
Room a bit small. Nowhere to put cases. Storage for clothes minimal. Over priced for the facilities.
Friendliness of the hotel staff, view from my room of Oystermouth Castle
The room was OK
We booked because the restaurant was well recommended. When we arrived (1st Sept) we were told that this year they dad decided not to open in September.
Fantastic location and very friendly staff. We loved the link with the cafe/bar, which meant that we could have a leisurely breakfast of coffee & croissants sitting in the window - much nicer than being in a hotel. A lot of care has gone into making the room a lovely place to be with thoughtful 'extras', such as a bathrobe.
I found the green 'emergency' light quite intrusive but this is a fire requirement and I had, thankfully, remembered to pack eye pads. The standard room is very small but the cleverly designed furniture meant it could be used in a flexible way (e.g. I used the seat as a bedside table). The bathroom is very posh but unnecessarily large. We felt that it contains a lot of wasted space, which could have been better used in the actual bedroom. The lighting was poor, both by the bed (had to use a torch to read) and in the bathroom, which was not sufficiently bright to put on make-up. A focused light over the mirror in the bathroom would be a fantastic addition. However, we'd definitely go again - but would remember to take eye pads and additional lighting.
Very good location, friendly staff, good to have the bistro downstairs - convenient to eat, with good atmosphere
If you are looking for a chic boutique hotel in the heart of Mumbles night life, then Cafe Valance is the place for you! The rooms were decorated to a high standard as was the entire hotel - the staff were friendly and very helpful, with great recommendations on where to eat. 10 out of 10 from us
The room wasn't huge, but given the location they were sufficient Breakfast is only continental, but great variety Our room was on the top floor, at the top of the stairs, so be aware of this, but this is only a minor negative
Great service, the host showed us to our room and checked with us that we were happy with our room. The room was tastefully decorated, extremely comfy bed and some special touches for our anniversary which was much appreciated. We had a very warm welcome:)
Bed comfortable, good range for breakfast ,which was good as it was continental.
Room quite small, initially had a problem parking but once a space was made available behind the premises it was ok.
Good location for Mumbles & Gower
Noise from the street prevented sleep; staff were inflexible and unhelpful when we wanted to change the reservation. They chose financial gain over keeping the customer happy, which was their right, but we won't be staying here again or recommending it.
The staff were lovely and the bar was pleasantly lively. I loved watching the world go by in the evening on the little patio area at the front of the bar. Very central for the attractions of the area - the Gower coast and beaches and retail therapy in Swansea
Room rather small and cramped. As the weather was very hot when we stayed it made the nights a bit uncomfortable
Boutique style hotel which made the an extra special one. It's the classiest place in Mumbles without a doubt. The staff were great and whilst the room doesn't officially come with breakfast there is one available free of charge. Room quality is high and space is maximised. We will be returning to Mumbles and to this hotel.
Evening entertainment Location Outside tables Room facilities/cleanliness
Had to pay £1.80 for a bottle of water - should be standard in room No cooked breakfast available Expensive bar bill
Staff was very friendly and relaxed. They carried our luggage up all the narrow stairs. Very modern bathroom. View of Oystermouth Castle from room. Comfortable bed. Car park in back (tiny). Nice selection of dishes for dinner. The cod/prawn cakes over creamed leeks was very nice.
The shower was so modern that I needed instructions to use it. Figured it out after trial and error.
Comfortable bed, immaculate room, great bathroom. Great welcome, attentive staff (especially Neil, for whom nothing was too much trouble)!
Absolutely nothing to complain about.
Relaxed and friendly feel with very very good people working there. The rooms were beautiful and very clean.
Slightly pricey, we would have liked breakfast to start before 9am
The atmosphere and food in cafe.
Parking very difficult. There were no staff residing in the building, so you were on your own in emergency. The cafe and bar were closed all day bank holiday monday. Two sets of outside steps ( fire escape type) before ascending the internal stairs.
The friendly staff and relaxed boho feel
Modern decor and central location
Very small rooms and continental breakfast therefore poor value for money
Friendly atmosphere and very clean rooms. Great location in The Mumbles. Has possibility to have diner at own bar, but are also happy to recommend other restaurants nearby.
Friendly, Very clean and excellent service with free parking.
We had a warm welcome, the staff were polite and helpful throughout the 3 nights we stayed. The room we had was nicely furnished, finished, clean and comfortable. It was in a nice location handy for all local amenities and shops. A terrific place to stay for a weekend away.
The bar across the way was open til late and very noisy.
Loved the big bath and comfortable king bed
I wish they did cooked breakfast in with the price with it being £140 per night .
Lovely little room and close to local amenities! Beautiful bathroom and shower
Not enough milk and tea bags
Friendly and helpful staff and nice bar area
Room quite small
