The hotel bar got a bit rowdy when a coach party (hens?) turned up but it wasn't a big problem

Food was good quality . Staff friendly and helpful . We ate in the bar the atmosphere was warm and welcoming and busy for a week night .

Because there was still snow on the ground and midweek there was not a lot to do in the evenings most other restraunts were closed .

The beer was good! Nice comfortable atmosphere in the bar and lounge and the food was lovely.

An enjoyable break in an historic building. Good food and a very happy atmosphere. The owner was particularly helpful and kind. We will be returning soon.

Friendly and accomodating staff. Characterful rooms and public areas. Good quality, but inexpensive food, well served. Central location in the town, and closer than we realised to Lake Vyrnwy (15 mins. drive).

Some of our extended party reported having some problems with heating and hot water, but we personally had none.

Very friendly staff who went out of their way to help, for example making arrangements for us to return at 1am after a party. Lovely warm room on a cold night! Good restaurant. Good sized rooms. But its the staff that make it led by owner Mark.

Great location, and a lovely hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent breakfasts too! Also good evening meals, and real ale!

A friendly relaxed atmosphere prevails at this interesting historic hotel.The food is excellent and the room we stayed in was spacious comfortable and clean.The staff are friendly and cheerful.The hotel is good value for money and the bar meals are wholesome,well cooked and very reasonably priced.The drinks in the bar are well priced as well.I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel.

It was like an old-fashioned hotel, not only in presentation though that would have been delightful enough, but also in courtesy and attention from the staff. Nowadays it seems the convention to be sharp and direct with the public, but not here: plus the beds were very comfortable and warm and the bathroom, though small, was immaculately clean.

The staff were friendly,welcomming and helpful. The food was excellent and the room comfortable.

We enjoyed their evening meals we ate in the restrauant on both nights the food was excellant .Breakfast superb too.there was a freindly bar and the staff were great and very helpful .there was plenty of hot water and fresh clean towels each day, even the liquid soap was provided . comfortable beds with good old fashioned warm blankets . our bedroom had a pair of comfortable chairs which was a help as the residents lounge was closed .

The stairs were a bit steep, [ for elderly people like us ] the residents lounge was tempoerarily closed,, as we were out and about it did not matter, however if we return it would be nice to see it reopened . the television set in our room was exceedingly small the screen was smaller than a lap top computer , but we did not go to watch T.v , however it would have helped if it were even slightly larger..

this was our second visit in a week and it was great again! Wonderful welcome.

We had a great time here, everyone was warm and friendly. And could bend to our requirements. would stay again and recommend it. the food was amazing!

Good food, friendly staff, good service

The bathroom in Room 1 was in our opinion below standard with the deco and the bath was a little antiquated.

Very friendly, traditional hotel with very good food, good service. The staff were all very helpful even giving us a lift when we needed one in the rain. It is spot in the centre of the small town and in the centre of some beautiful countyside.

Bathroom could of perhaps been improved by the addition of a stand up shower rather than a hand held one over the bath.

Staff were fantastic. Quirky upgraded very old rooms - fabulous. Food was very nice. Location was excellent for sightseeing in Wales countryside. Local shops very close. In the heart of the town. Parking available. Very old upgraded building.

Toilet seat that sloped with the pan, which sloped with the room and the floor. Tended to slide off the bowl and suggest extra stabilisation required or remount tiolet bowl.

It was warm and friendly. Traditional pub-feel with quirky, original features. Food was excellent and staff couldn't do enough for us and were very hard-working. We wishe we had booked for two nights!

Not much to do in the immediate village but great base for exploring surrounding areas.

Old and different. Excellent owners and staff. Quaint rooms and old decor. A central point for travel in Wales. Off street parking available. Local shops nearby. Village atmosphere.

Being first in the shower in the morning and having to wait for the hot water to reach the room, which is not uncommon in a lot of places.

Pleasant and obliging staff.

Evening meal dissappointing. Possibly worst sirloin steak ever. Definitely not value for money.
