friendly staff, nice location, average facilities, you get what you pay for. we were told about breakfast we went down and were charged £6.50 and the only thing on offer was fruit and cereal we were disgusted and asked for our money back previously when i have stayed at the hotel there was cooked breakfasts that was not an option this time and we were not happy we found a cafe down the road that was cheaper and provided us with cooked food.

Cheap and cheerful for 1 night Even though it was just a single room, it really was a single room - as soon as I walked in I knew it was a single room - compact, single bed with 1 pillow, sink in the bedroom, not the bathroom, tv about 25 years old - served the purpose

What did we like? Not a lot. The reputation of any hotel can be made or spoiled by the guests on any particular night. Our fellow residents did not do anything to enhance the experience of our stay. One bright spark decided to smoke a cigarette in his room, thus setting the fire alarm off at 3am. There were comings and goings of residents all night, with little regard to the fact that the rest of us were asleep. The room facilities were ok, but we felt that these had been installed to "tick boxes" and the actual fabric of the hotel ignored. I.E. draughty sash windows, uneven creaky floorboards in the corridors, thin walls between the bedrooms etc. Every time someone went past our room, the door moved and we felt as though they were coming in to join usl

My only thing would be to have a decent seat to sit on in the room, but that applys to most hotels.

Me and my friend came over to Newcastle from Carlisle to see a show at the metro radio arena. We both thought the reception staff were so helpful and friendly. Very approachable. Comfy beds, very nice shower room and the cleanliness of the room was impeccable. Definitely stay there again. :-) xx Nothing it was all great!!

Room was what I expected: functional and a bit time expired. Ensuite was better than I expected. Shower was good. Tea and water in the room was welcome. Receptionist helpful. Location is ok - good walk out of town and more than a walk from the University site. Could be great if it had the right investment to sort out the issues. No parking available - full and double parked when I arrived. Non permit holder spaces, a couple of streets away, available after 6:30 pm or 10 pm on a Fri/Sat and all day Sunday. Very loud bar. Bit shabby in places. Room tv had limited signal. Desk draws fell out. Bathroom curtain rail hanging off the wall. Marks on sheets. Paper thin walls and the floors amplify any noise. Woken twice in night 2 am and 4 am by groups of guests returning, shouting, arguing and slamming doors. Will book much earlier next visit to have better choice of hotel.

Lovely location. Room was neat. The check out time was 12, however the cleaners knocked at my door at 9.30 and started cleaning the corridors and rooms nearby with loud radio music right after. So it was simply impossible to keep on sleeping.

The staff on Reception were excellent ~ carried my bag upstairs for me ~ a bit elderly and stiff I am!! They dealt with large groups of young men with tack and care ~ obviously used to them!! The room was good and at the back of the Hotel so away from the noise of the road and lots of young drinkers at the front! A busy Hotel run efficiently. Food in the Bar was good. Parking excellent ~ off road at the back. A Hotel well situated for City and getting away to the seaside.
