Very central, close to everything, rooms were a decent size and beds comfy..plenty of tv channels to browse! Had an issue with my room on check in,this was cleared up swiftly and my credit card was reimbursed within the hour!! Had one little issue, I discovered a baby rat/mouse curled on my floor, not sure how he got in as I didnt open the window during my stay, anyhow my sister who was in the room next door removed him and he was released outside by staff member. .I wasnt too bothered as not afraid of mice, though a lot of people are!! And its not great for hygiene... The hotel manager assured us pest control were arriving the following morning....i was upgraded to big roomy family suite for my last night...this wouldnt put me off staying here again if I return to the city as its a decent hotel in a very good location!!!

Price was low for a single room. The hotel was 5 minutes walk from main shopping area. Free use of WiFi. I was able to find the Hotel easily. I could hear everything in the room next to mine and the hallway outside my room.

The location was fantastic. I had been impressed with reviews I had read on TripAdvisor and knew that the Cairn Hotel would be nice. My room was spotlessly clean, the bathroom was brand new. The shortbread biscuits on the tea and coffee tray in the room were a lovely touch. The beds were perfectly comfortable. I had a ground floor room and was not woken by any loud noise or traffic. Despite its central location, it is in a very quiet side street which makes it perfect for being in the heart of the city yet far from the madding crowd. I will definitely stay there again. No hairdryer in the room, although one could be borrowed from reception if required. Having said that, you can pick up a cheap travel one for 8 quid these days, so I just did that and now have a spare hairdryer for next time I come up to Edinburgh!

Room is big, staff is kindly and useful. Near city center about 10min walk. Maybe because the window can not be opend, there is some strange smell in the room.

The location was convenient to sights - just steps away from the incredible Calton Hill. We had a very pretty, clean room and each bed had its own reading light. The restaurant served one of the best Indian meals I have every had!

The price was good and also the location (close to Calton Hill :-) Staff was very polite and helpfull. Food was nice too! Even though it wasn't too far from city centre, it was a good 20 min walk from the train station, which I had to do while carrying my suitcases. Overall was good, although my mother (which stayed in the same room as me said she wasn't too impressed with the room location, which was on a different building, across the street from the hotel's reception and also on the -1 level (it felt like we were sleeping in the hotel's dungeon) a bit creepy at night - I enjoyed it, my mum didn't (she was a bit scared, bless her).

Friendly staff, and location The pictures on your site where misleading, it was more run down than the pictures showed. Furniture was all worn in entrance/lounge area. Beds where uncomfortable, and no chairs in the room. Very small room also.

The hotel was clean and in a great location. The price was right, and for a 2-3 star hotel, it met my expectations and did the trick. The website was misleading in terms of their photo representations of the hotel. The website depicts the hotel as quite fancy and well decorated, but it is actually a wee bit worn and "well-used."

Central to all shops, theatres etc. Clean sheets and shower . Friendly staff especially the barman who makes you feel really welcome. Price is good. Furniture in some of the rooms could do to be replaced, but can't really complain as the room was clean and comfortable enough.
