Cairn Hotel  

Room was clean and tidy.

a bit small another i did book a single. Bit have been nice to have been upgraded to a twin if a twin was available.

The staff at The Cairn are a friendly hard working bunch. Nothing is too much trouble and they keep the place well organised and clean

Only a fixed 3 course meal on an evening. I never eat 3 courses but have to pay full price only for the main. The menu and prices should be more flexible.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Bedroom was clean and bed reasonably comfortable. Breakfast was very nice.

Some of the facilities in the bedroom were basic. Very small TV. The shower was very small and slightly underpowered. The walls of the rooms seemed extremely thin as we could hear everything next door!

If you are out till late at nite you have to phone the porter to get in, not very good if you dont have phone with you or credit on it

comfotable, clean room. exellent meal at family event we were there for.

breakfast a disappointment, first down and ordered egg, mushrooms,potato scone. egg ok but mushrooms stone cold, potato scone yellow coulered and so tough could not even cut. pity as said before celebration meal the night before was exellent. maybe unlucky as down early.

It's a bit off the beaten track.

fantastic value 3 course meal, delicious meals (18 of us ate together) Was lovely and warm Staff were more than helpful (we were there for a Golden Wedding party and had a few surprises for the couple which staff helped with) Bar and lounge areas lovely.

some areas need a bit of sprucing up, out bathroom smelled a little damp. TV in bedroom would be better wall-mounted.

The hotel and rooms were clean and staff were quite friendly.

Although the rooms were clean and well maintained were very small despite what the pictures showed on the website. The bar lacked atmosphere with the tv continually tuned to Sky Sports. The menu was limited to 3 courses for £12 even if you required only a bar meal and were charged for 3 courses even if you only wanted one

Cleanliness, friendliness of staff - their willingness to help and provide service; 3 course dinner for £12 was amazing value and good food.

Bed so hard we wouldn't sleep - and that was in the Superior Room. Superior rooms are very small.

Lack of an illuminated sign outside made it very difficult to find this hotel.We wasted at least 20 mins late at night after a 7 hour journey. More annoyingly staff members said the problem had existed for some time and caused problem for many others. So why has it still not been fixed?Seems to show a lack of customer concern. This hotel is not easy to find next to an industrial estate -why make it even harder???

food is very good, and staff are very friendly, nice place to stop, cant wait to go back again. very close to the big shopping centre which is brilliant.

They accepted our dogs. The room was a decent size. Everything was of a good standard. Good value.

It was clean and the bed was large and comfortable

There was only one electrical socket in the room. The hotel was next a highway and they did not have double/triple glazed windows or aircon. It was very hot in our room, so we had to have the window open and as such it was a noisy couple of nights. It was expensive for what you got. The breakfast was that nice either.

I only stayed one night but the staff where excellent, I arrived after the kitchen had closed but they still made me food and couldn't have been more helpful. I lovely clean pleasant hotel at a bargain price.

Inside this hotel was well kept, it is comfortable and the food was very good with the price to match

Outside the place was drearily the paint job is out of the 70s and the roof sign was falling down, as we first drove up, we thought o my goodness what have we booked here. ( once inside the place was very nice) The staff overall were very nice, however, one of the receptionists could learn how to smile....

the cairn hotel was a very pleasant place to stay at, very friendly staff , comfortable room and lovely food.. really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay there again

Slightly tired!

My wife and my self stayed at Cairn for a wedding and things were fine apart for the wedding meal.On tasting the butter supplied I reported to the head man it was off he did nothing ! The butter for breakfast was the same, other people at wedding had same butter. Regards James Barrie.

They had a fireworks display at about 11.00 for a wedding party and did not advise other guests. I was sleeping at the time and had a very rude awakening. Took ages to get back to sleep.
