The staff were welcoming & helpful and the food were excellent. The room was large, very comfortable & bright, but the bathroom was small & quite dark as it had no natural light. The public areas, particularly the library, are comfortable places to relax.

Pleasant location, pleasant ground floor accommodation My bedroom was an upgraded one. The landings looked a bit tired and I was in a second floor room. The bedroom was pleasant but the bathroom featured a badly chipped enamel bath and is in urgent need of modernising.

Reallly friendly staff, fantastic food and some excellent character still left in the building. One or two small licks of paint might not go a miss, but that can be forgotten as everything else makes up for it. Great value through this site and will definitely use again.

I was upgraded to one of the new rooms which was very spacious, comfortable and well designed. The food in restaurant is excellent.....really excellent! Was a bit odd being the only diner, but the staff were friendly ond compensated for the lack of other guests.

Breakfast was excellent, Hotel Restaurant has great reputation locally. Staff friendly and helpful. I would recommend for the dining room and location but be prepared for bedrooms that need updating. The room was 1970's concept.

The location was good for our needs - close to City and not too far to coast. The staff were excellent and helpful and friendly. It is an older property and therefore in continuing need of tlc in parts.

Waited over 10 minutes to be served at the bar with dinner and drink order, there were three staff on duty talking to each other. The head waiter looked and I though I must have been a mirrow. I walked away three times to calm down so not to make a scene. Other than this the hotel in excellent. I will take this as a one off, wait until my next visit.

So nice to stay in a Hotel with Character. If you like modern & minimalist don't stay here. Full of period charm, staff and food exellent, would stay again when next in the area.

What a wonderful place, such lovely staff and comfortable surroundings. Nothing too much trouble and a delightful room. Good choice of breakfast things even if you didn't want cooked breakfast. As a single female traveller I was more than comfortable here and would recommend without any hesitation

The staff were very friendly and attentive. The gardens were lovely, but the plastic trees at the entrance porch was a real poor effort. The setting was really good

I had a superior room which was very big with modern decor. An old building with great character and many intact features. Some parts of the building need updating

We were immediately aware of it's delightful location and welcoming ambience. Each member of staff we encountered was extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. Our lunchtime meal was a delightful and the accomodation was faultless apart from a slight problem with lack of hot water which was resolved without delay
