Having just spent two nights at the Calcot Hotel, I felt the urge to write to you. My wife and I took advantage of an offer you supplied for two nights at a non-refundable reduced price. Past experience doing this caused me to expect a reduced quality stay as is often the case. Hotels have to make up the cost of an offer somehow, and its often by reducing whats available to guests. Imagine then my surprise and delight to experience one of the very best quality two days in an english hotel We have ever had! The rooms and beds were perfect, the food was excelent. And the friendly and helpfull service was second to none. We were even moved rapidly to another room with no fuss at all when we realised we could not sleep directly above a wedding party disco! I can assure you that on our next outing we will go first to a Best Western hotel, and if anywhere near Reading, it will be yours. Thank you and your staff for a pleasant and memorable stay. -- very best wishes from SEAN WILES

Room Servicing was perfect. Very good parking facilities, close to reading town centre. My stay was very pleasant. The room fitted my needs PERFECTLY. I stayed 22 days at the hotel. The value for your money is ok. It is a 3 star hotel and that's the standard you'll get. I didn't eat at the hotel so I can't tell how food quality is. Staff (not all) are sometimes "bothered" by guests, they could try harder to make a good impression. The place could do with a renovation, but many hotels in UK need redoing. At night noisy due to banging doors/people walking stairs. Sound protection is poor in the room I stayed in. Party on Friday is definitely noisy until late night but this was pointed out to me on check in. Bathroom was VERY BAD, never the less being used to Swiss standard every bathroom I have seen in the UK is bad, but this one was very bad.

The location is great for visiting my daughter and her family. We were made very welcome by reception staff on arrival. The hoterl rooms are comfortable and house keeping is excellent.

Location for my survey sites, excellent staff, clean and comfortable room. A liitle noisy on the road facing rooms. I had evening meal in the hotel. It was very good but not what was indicated on the menu. I had slow braised sirlion steak in a red wine sauce. The meat when it arrived was not slow braised but grilled with the sauce poured over. It was stll enjoyable but not what I was expecting.

We have the passed the Hotel many times when visiting our Daughter in Reading, it is not very impressive on the outside. But when inside it is fine, greeted by very helpful and friendly staff. Room good size and clean, no road or celebration noise, as our room was at the back of Hotel. The night of our booking was changed without any problems.

With the exception of one member of the waiting staff, who was very dour, and we felt that we had upset her for some reason, the remainder of the staff were excellent, from the time we checked in until we left the staff could not have done more for us, very helpful, knowledgeable and ready to assist in our requirements. We will definitely return in the near future, the function we attended was the 60s 70s and 80s evening, the dj and music played were excellent, I cannot fault our overall experience at this hotel.

Friendly, helpful staff, great breakfast! Another guest mistakenly opened my room door with their key! The staff were extremely apologetic and helpful, and sent maintenance to check the locks, but it did spook me that it could happen in the first place.

I have stayed previously whilst on business and chose the Calcot as a base for family to stay whilst we as a family celebrated our Golden Wedding anniversary at The Mill @ Sonning. We booked three rooms and the staff could not have been more friendly and the comfort of the rooms and service was of the top order Regards, J.Mike Thompson

Stayed with a colleague for the christmas retro party. Had a good evening at the party - excellent food - don't know how you did it for all those numbers. Had a brilliant time. Staying was a fab idea too, reasonably priced and not chucked out too early either. Didn't spend the £10 on breakfast thought that was a bit steep.

Comfortable, but a bit further out of town than we thought. Upgraded to adjoining rooms was very good, but I would have expected this due to the quiet period of the hotel. Maid service had not been in our adjoining room, for the second day. The cancellation fee would not be refunded, though we had travelled from Scotland, and if the weather had turned bad, dont think this would have been fair.

Food was nice, room was lovely. Staff at breakfast were nice and helpful. Hotel was clean and bright. Would use again. Reception staff very curt and not at all welcoming. Bar staff, when you could actually find them, much the same.

The hotel is in serious need of updating. I couldn't believe that only 4 channels were available when I would expect at least Freeview and even the cheapest B&B has flat screen these days. Similarly, the very weak hair dryer, the shower which sruggled to reach temperature (as well as being very confusing to operate) ensured that we would not choose Best Western again. Sorry, but you did ask.

I didn't realise the hotel had a pub taking up the entire ground floor. Some of the guests were very noisy leaving the premises and getting to their rooms which was unpleasent and the double bed was extremely small.

The hotel was ideally located just off the m4 and a few miles from Reading. Best Western hotels are usually of good standard and this was no exception. Clean, warm and friendly. The room was a good size and quiet which I requested. There were Christmas party events on at the weekend which meant the restaurant and bar were more or less off limits. A menu was available as long as it was the party menu. I requested room service and was charged £5 for this. It was refunded when I pointed out that the options for dining were not as expected.
