Score from 701 reviews Very good
Nice grounds, lovely comfortable room made good use of the space for a single room. Great staff from reception to those who served breakfast. I would stay there again.
Slight issues with a couple of elements of chosen meals but that was more to do with the food suppliers rather than the way it was cooked. When highlighted to staff they didn't seem to know how to answer my questions relating to the issues therefore didn't.
The cosiness of the hotel, the staff is extremely nice and pleasant, helpful, and friendly.
Convenience and price. Comfortable room.
Only issue this visit was sloping shelf in bathroom! Could not use it.
Staff friendly and professional Upgraded room Clean well maintained room
Taxi cost to Reading station
While working away from home and dining alone, you always feel akward. Not here, the staff make you feel most welcome.
The fact I didn't find this place earlier, in my six week contract
ONLY ONE CHAIR That deficiency stopped all good Rating from being excellent!
Great location close to motorway
Lovely staff Room 5 was very cosy
Secure bike storage, reasonable close to Kennet and Avon cycle path
Convenience good service
Not a good enough breakfast for the money two wedding receptions blocking up the reception rooms rooms too warm
Room smelt of damp
Cost of room & breakfast
The staff were excellent. Very helpful and polite and the young male waiter on Friday 29th Aug. was charming, pleasant, clean and smart. A pleasure to be served our meal by him.
Room 65 rather small for two people. The bathroom far too small. It would have made a better shower room giving more elbow room??? A lift would probably have given access to a better room. An 80 yr old does not need stairs to negotiate.
good food nice place to stay
I was upgraded. Not sure how or by what the upgrade included.
Noisy especially at night. Had a steak, said comes with tomatoes & chips. Came with half a tomatoes didn't know I had to order extra veg, generally OK, nothing spectacular. The waitress told me to sign a docket, but i wanted to pay, then i felt the need to check i wasnt charged and charged to the room. All i wanted to do was pay for the meal and then just drop of the key on checking out. Even 10 minutes before the meal i didnt have cash and to put one drink on the tab with the meal, so I had to go back to my room, get cash and pay for that seperatly too.. The hand soap had just about run out and the door stop in the bathroom just where you place your feet to sit on the loo was a trip hazard and kept falling off the screw which secured it to the floor.
Very clean with good amenities. Good restaurant. Ample parking
Breakfast was really good with lots of choice. Bacon was great. The staff were excellent throughout the hotel with consistency. Nice atmosphere in the bar with good beers. Very quiet room.
Clean comfy bed, but could have been the larger size
Hot water was too hot Dangerously hot!!
Having to lug my cases up the stairs.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Having a resturant at the hotel was good, the meals we had were excellant. Breakfast was also very good. The lounge bar was comfortable and we were able to sit and chat. This trip to Reading seems to becoming an annual event and we would stay at this hotel again
I didnt like being in what felt fo be a broom cupboard but was in fact a bedroom. The room was very small. The step down into it from the landing was dangerous and the step up into the bathroom caught me out and i fell into the bathroom. I also didnt like the fact that my requirements on the booking form had been ignored. I asked for a ground floor room or a room nearest to the lift for one of the ladies due to very poor mobility. Sadly this had been ignored and it took a time to sort out. However, they did give us a ground floor room but steps again could have been a problem.
Lucky to be in a room away from the wedding party.
People talking loudly in the corridors at 2 am! And slamming of doors. Think it was a wedding party.
Handy location. Very clean throughout. Staff very friendly. Decent choice and quality of food at breakfast.
Evening meals a bit pricey. Room/en suite ok maybe just a little too 'compact' but wouldn't stop me booking again.
The location is easy to get to and the staff are friendly and helpful.
There wasn't any particular aspect of staying at this hotel that I didn't like.
The staff are all ages, and all very friendly
great place great staff, good food
