location lovely beach, very safe to walk at night lovely meal both dinner and breakfast
overpriced sea view was blocked with scaffold and it was a very big disappointment, it should be stated in the website before booking about the scaffolding as I paid £100 for one night in a dated hotel only for the view, so disappointed
Food, drink, hotel, and room were all excellent. Steve and Andy are great people and make you very welcome one of the best hotels I have stayed in.
A bit to hot but it is probably better than being cold
Good breakfast choices. Beautiful staircases !
Although we paid extra for a room with a sea view, the view was much inhibited by the scaffolding all across the back of the house ... a bit disappointing ! There was no mention of this when we booked for ourselves and my sister in law and her husband.

The atmosphere of the hotel, the friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Also the cleanliness of the hotel, it was spotless. The hotel itself was excellent
The bar was abit small, but that only mattered to us because it was so busy.

Nothing to dislike
We stayed one night before a walking holiday up the Cumbrian coast. Calder House gave us everything we needed - a comfortable room, a warm welcome and a very acceptable supper.
Value for money. Great place to base yourself if training for the three peaks as Wasdale is less than 10 miles away. The food and service was great and staff are really accommodating. Ample parking at the back and great sea views.
Honestly - couldnt fault it.

NO lift to top floor !!!!
We enjoyed the olde world charm of the hotel, the friendly staff, and looking out over the sea from the lounge, dining and breakfast rooms.
the friendliness of the staff, how they made your welcome that bit special.
