Caledonian HotelQuay Street, IV26 2UG Ullapool (Show map) Pleasant, Score from 213 reviews“After booking the Caledonian hotel I read some quite negative reviews which I think comletely unfounded. I thought the hotel was great. Tremendous value for money, exceptionally clean, a fantastic location, friendly helpfule staff and the worlds best breakfast. I will definitely be back.”
James,
Irvine
The Caledonian Hotel overlooks Ullapool harbor and the colorful fishing boats on Loch Broom. A quiet and friendly hotel with a welcoming atmosphere and pleasant grounds. Built in the early 1900s, the Caledonian is one of the oldest hotels in Ullapool. All guests have free access to Loch Broom Fitness Center for the duration of their stay (subject to availability). Ullapool is the port for the Outer Hebrides and therefore good roads allow easy access to this spectacular highland location. On the west coast of Scotland, Ullapool is close to the Gulf Stream and the Inverewe Gardens where visitors can enjoy the many tropical and exotic shrubs and trees. Ullapool is the ideal location for exploring the west Highlands including Loch Maree, Lochnivar, Gairloch, and the Corrieshalloch Gorge. The capital of the Highlands, Inverness, is under 2 hours away. Hotel Rooms: 83, Hotel Chain: Oxford Hotels & Inns.

It was very convenient for the work I was doing. It looked very worn, the breakfast was poor and the level of staffing was comparable to a ghost ship; though when they did turn up they were very pleasant.

Location was perfect. Hotels should be refreshed. Rooms are small, not very nice. Breakfast was ok, not extraordinary.

It's in the middle of town. Erm...... there was free parking. I'm struggling to think of many positives. To be fair the staff seemed nice enough. Grubby, grotty, old fashioned. If you are an OAP that likes coach tours and your home is still the same now as it was back in the 70s/80s then you might think this place is alright. Maybe in another 20 years if they don't change it, it might come back into fashion.

This hotel is useful due to its proximity to the ferry for Stornoway. The staff were friendly and the room was large if a little basic and dated. We arrived too late for dinner but staff directed us to a takeaway and provided cutlery. Breakfast was lovely. Shower was powerful but either too hot or too cold, we couldn't get a happy medium. We had a restless night due to the windows and doors rattling and the fire alarm going off. Although great for a stopover I wouldn't have chosen to stay for any longer.

We had a super relaxing weekend to celebrate our 46th wedding aniversary. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. This was our 5th visit to your hotel and hopefully it will not be long before we return The only complaint that we have is that we were in single beds (as that was all that was available) and that the beds were too soft.

This place is trapped in the 70s, the carpet is worn, the room was basic and tv did not work. The lounge is big and unwelcoming.

Breakfast was all right Meals were very like school dinners lots people packed in to one large dining room and queuing to be served. Our first room in hotel shower didn't work, springs in bed kept poinging every time you turned. But we got moved to another too which was much better. Damp smell everywhere. Hotel needs a complete upgrade to bring it into the 21 st century. Wouldn't stay there again.

The room was compact however it was clean, warm and and bed was comfortable. The staff were very helpful on what not to waste our time seeing. Breakfast was a high point as pretty much everything was laid out. Really could use a face lift and re-fit everywhere.

I was staying at the Caledonian Hotel, during the Loopulla festival, therefore I was only really needing a base, the hotel was clean enough and the breakfast was great. Good value for what I paid. I tried the Bistro for something to eat, the staff did not listen and got the order wrong twice, the food was expensive , arrived cold and was generally a very poor quality. Pretty disappointing.
