This B&B guest house is next to the 5 locks of the Caledonian Canal, walking distance from Fort Augustus. The village is part of the Great Glen Way. Caledonian House was originally built in the 1860s and was used as Campbell's Tea Room in the 1900s. It has a good location for exploring the sights of the Highlands, including Loch Ness and the islands of Syke, Mull, Iona and Rhum. There are plenty of outdoor activities and spectacular views for walkers. Caledonian House offers fishing trips and mountain bike rental. Hotel Rooms: 5

Well we were alone I mean ther were not more hostages than us. But anyqay the owner is very very kind and she was very atentive all the time It is not about Caledonian House it is more about the village. If you want to have dinner you have to arrive to the pubs before 9 pm. Just that!

conveniently located by the canal locks, we had a very warm welcome from the owner who gave us advice on eating and drinking locally. We had a comfortable room with a selection of books and dvds at our disposal. The cooked breakfast in the morning kept us going until late afternoon! Would recommend the Boathouse restaurant for stunning views over Loch Ness (we walked in late afternoon and booked a window table) The shower, unfortunately the water did not run away as it should have and gathered in the shower tray

Proprietress was helpful and informative. The location was good even though it was in a very small town; it was nice to be able to see the canal in action from one of the rooms our group had. Also, while the choice of restaurants was narrow in this town, our hostess recommended one that turned out to be quite fine. Overall, the facility looked like it lacked attention when compared to the b&b's we had stayed at so far (for the same price or less). Interior plants needed watering and trimming and surfaces were dusty. The showers drained very slowly, and had a low lip around the catching tray so they almost ran over with each shower.

It was a very nice place located next to the river canals and people at site was very friendly and approchable, really enjoy walking by the river and like side, also the lady has two great friendly dogs which makes the place very mountain house, really enjoy my visit and area is very accesible. All was very clean, warm inside, quality breakfast, good service and comfy bed, wood style every where, parking just outside, nice view to canals and lake, tea and coffee already serve, and very warming welcome at first crossing door.

“The hotel had a real family feel about it, we were made to feel welcome and the staff went out of their way to tend to all our needs. The view from our room was spectacular, we were surrounded by breathtaking scenery of Loch Ness. The food in the restaurant was lovely but little variety if you are a fussy eater. We spent 2 weeks travelling around Scotland and The Inch Hotel was by far the best hotel we stayed in.” Heather, Romford |

“Set in a beautiful location just a short drive from Invermoriston, the atmosphere at Serendipity was welcoming and relaxed, the premises clean, warm and very cosy. We couldn't fault our room, the breakfast laid on in the morning was delicious and the owners of Serendipity, Ken & Martin, proved to be perfect hosts - Mike & Carolyn” Michael, Guildford |
